As I moved the split line between the parameter/switch selection table and the widget area of the dashboard, the widgets turned tiny, without the alarm setting boxes.

I liked them tiny (the normal ones were too big, I could fit only 9 in my screen), but the title became too tiny to read.

Is there a way to control this?

You want to change the font size?

I would like to:

- be able to change the dashboard widget size (it's gone back to the big size when I re-started RR logger)
- be able to change the dashboard widget title font size
- be able to changing the dashboard widget background color would be nice too  (it would make it easier to locate a particular widget at a glance)

1) - use the Gauge Style button to select the format you want. That's the only control that's available to you right now. #2 & 3 will have to be a future enhancement.

I've had four or five blue screens while logging with this version. It blue screened twice within 15 minutes as I was heading back from a run. Is there anything I can post or send you that will help with identifying the problem? I'm running Win7 with a Tactrix OP2 and Innovate LC-1.

I also had blue screen trouble with the last revision but never had an opportunity to post about it. Crashes typically happen after logging for more than 25 or 30 minutes.

There are certainly some major differences in this 0.5.5 version over 0.5.4.
1) The whole Openport 2 driver access code changed so if you had BSOD before then that's probably not the problem.
2) In 0.5.4 I provided an updated version of COM4J which is used for the Innovate MTS protocol but not for the LC-1 attached to a serial port (although Innovate MTS will still allow you to log an LC-1 if selected).

You can try sending the rr_system.log file, but I'm not sure it will help if the OS is crashing. Can you identify the reason for the BSOD? You may have to disable the automatic reboot function in Windows so the system stops at that screen. Take a photo of it if possible and submit it.

I have only personally logged for about 15 to 20 minutes using Win XP Pro and haven't noticed a problem. But I don't have an LC-1 installed (it's sitting on the desk) nor am I using my Openport 2 (also sitting on the desk, but I can try it out).

Had a crash yesterday and today. No rr_system.log was generated. I assume this means the issue is not with RR. My USB to serial adapter driver is currently v1.0 of Prolific's PL-2303 driver. I just downloaded their latest driver which was released on August 1. I'll let you know if the problem persists.

Thanks!
Garrison

I have a question about the AEM X-Wifi Controller external plugin...

How Does it connect to the controller? Using HTTP over the wi-fi link, or the 0-5V output from the controller must be wired into a serial/USB port?

RR Logger reads the values through the USB port on the controller unit. It shows up as a COM port to the Logger.
See the instruction manual.

Hello, Sorry to be confused, but is SnapShot 0.5.5 the new version of Romraider 0.5.4?

Yes it's newer than 0.5.4. Read the release notes to find what's changed.
Try it out and report any issues.

Logger freezes up and comes back on me quite often. By freezing up I mean the parameters aren't updating on the dashboard, not the application freezing, as it still maintains responsiveness. Usually the parameters stop updating for a few seconds then they'll come back. It doesn't seem to show up in the logs as duplicate rows of data, and I don't observe any significant time gaps, i.e if it's not logging data when it the parameters are frozen on the dashboard tab. I do notice that there are a couple kinks in the plot if I chart time (ms) with row # on the x-axis. I'm not sure if these correlate with the hiccups in the dashboard update, nor if this is typical in my older logs with previous versions of RR. Note, I'm logging 20 parameters (some on the data tab, some on the dashboard tab):

While it's unable to update the dashboard there will be error messages in the status bar. So I've attached a logfile if that helps.

Of course, I recently changed a few things at once and then this all started happening. I haven't had a chance to go through a process of elimination to diagnose this properly. I just installed a wideband (PLX SM-AFR) at the same time I upgraded to using the new snapshot version. So not sure that's causing my issue. Interestingly the wideband parameter itself will sometimes lock up independent of the others. It usually won't come back without exiting and restarting the logger though.

When I get some time I plan to revert to previous version of the RR logger and also unplug my wideband controller from my USB port and disable the PLX plugin. I'm using a car PC, so there's a lot of stuff plugged into my USB bus. I had to add a cheap external USB hub to accomodate my wideband, so that's another piece of hardware that might be causing problems. So I'll have to incrementally add all that stuff back and see what causes the problem to resurface.

In the mean time I thought the log might be interesting to the developers, maybe they can identify the problem more easily

What I see in the log seems to suggest you have an intermittent Openport 2 connection. The logger gets either no response or an invalid response and has to close the connection and open it again. While doing so the Openport 2 appears to be non-responsive and it takes a try or two to reconnect.
Code:
1018359 INFO  [Thread-112712] - Tactrix Inc. - OpenPort 2.0 J2534 ISO/CAN/VPW/PWM is not available: PassThruOpen error [8:ERR_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED], unable to open device

I suggest checking/changing your USB cable and clean the USB connections. Starting with the least items plugged into the USB is also a good start.

If you want to keep a dev/master distinction there, that's a great idea. Tag this hash as 0.5.5-RC1 with a suitable description. Push that tag to your repo and the official one. Wait.

I hope I did this part correctly.

The tag(s) doesn't/don't seem to be in the RR repo. Only old SVN tags are there. I see all the commits have been pushed there, though.

I haven't a clue how to get tags into the official repo. I can tag locally but how do they get pushed/set in the remote? I've looked through the GitHub help and didn't find anything about it either.

I haven't used tags at all yet, but perhaps:

git push --tags

Cool, they're there now! Are you using annotated tags? If not, do next time :-) They should be default, but...
