I am completely sure there are unused ecu pins available (ReadMemory, SubWriteProtection, etc.) that may be used to force 32bit ecu to change baudrate by means of an appropriate ecu hack.
RomRaider logger may be routinely reconfiged for another baudrate here (logger.xml): <protocol id="SSM" baud="4800" databits="8" stopbits="1" parity="0" connect_timeout="2000" send_timeout="55">
I tried this successfully for 19200, 38400bps and MicroChip 16 bit dsPIC based ecu.

You mean you successfully communicate with a 16 bits ecu at 19200 and 38400 just by changing the baud rate at the init? I mean that I successfully communicate with my own design of 16 bits ecu build for Audi engine at 19200 and 38400 bps.
Logging is done by RR logger that is setup for 38400 communications by mean of RR "logger.xml" string <protocol id="SSM" baud="38400">

I see. I though you were able with 16bits subaru ecu. I have my own hardware as well that speak SSM... but no luck so far with a 32 bits ecu at other speeds. I am not using RR and/or tactrix. fujiillin wrote: Also, there's a SSM library around here somewhere in C#. This one? http://www.codeplex.com/ssm I haven't implemented writes yet, only reading (logging) because there hasn't been much use for it. However, if there's going to be an ECU hack to change the bit rate, that would certainly quality. I can provide a test utility for it as well, like a small GUI that makes it easy to select bit rates and send/receive some sample packets. Stay tuned.

RR and modified ecuExplorer are speaking at rised baud rates with my homebrew hardware. ANY UART or virtial COM is applicable. There is no need for Tactrix that is not opensource currently.

I now have a 32 bits 06 sti in my hand. I will setup a jig and see what I can do. Using an SSM command to change the baud seem to be a good idea. Mart wrote: well 19200 (if working well) is better than 4800 now I need to put my hand on a 32 bits ecu and make something happen. Sasha_A80 wrote: It depends on the circuitry at ecu and cable sides. Cheap optocoupled cables are limited by 19200-38400, more elaborated and DC coupled are capable to operate at higher rates.

Why is this dead? The sample rate at 4800 is terrible...

Use fast poll mode or CAN if your ROM supports it.
