That's great, that way we won't need to duplicate any effort. I dunno why I never thought to ask him . That will make interfacing to add additional writing/reading methods easier, too. I'd like to add support for moates.net's rom burner and Ostrich.
If anyone is unfamiliar with the Ostrich, its a eeprom emulator. You basically just plug it in to a socketed ECU (OBD-I Honda and DSM, plus probably a million other ECUs) and plug it in to the PC and you can write to it on the fly, enabling realtime tuning. Theyre like $150 or so, so you can buy one, tune, then burn the tune to an EEPROM and use the Ostrich on your buddies car. Or you can leave the Ostrich in all the time and not have to bother burning the ROM. If we can make RomRaider useful for Honda guys, I think we could get a whole lot of help on additional features from them.

How is CAN support going in EcuFlash anyway? Colby isn't very responsive on the open ecu forums or via pm (he's probably sick of people asking)...

Will his ecu flash gui be separate from the flashing portion as well?
In other words, will he tie into his executables as we do? Is this a hint of him spending less time on his gui and having us pick up the slack per say?
Or is it the case we will be packaging the entire ecuflash program with qt libs and gui code included?
As far as the wish list goes... I think my needs have been met.

He may stop supporting subaru gui wise, but that is just XML translation, who knows, I did not ask him. The support will be added directly to ECUFlash releases and we will just use the latest tested version and pass in our command line args for what we want ECUFlash to do.
Gabe.

He is currently disasembling the Subaru J2534 CD with IDAPro and working on a J2534 compliant dll to add to the tactrix.

Great thanks. Any idea on how long this would take? I imagine it's a big task.

I don't know. I will send him an email soon with a spec (I promised him this) on what we want as far a s command line parameters. I need to see where he is at on the J2534 API stuff and see where he needs help. But first, I have to finsih the Stage 1 07 STI map I have been working on since several users are waiting on me.

Colby responded to me. He has sucessfully captured a trace of a CAN flash and is working on breaking the encryption.

Currently ECUFlash can load a rom from the command line, so I will make some changes to add integration to at least launch ECUFlash with the current selected ROM in romraider (time to get out the Java book). I just got an email form Colby. He is almost complete with the CAN Flash code, but the new cables will be another 2 months out or so. Gabe

Gabe Excellent, even if it is a couple months, having support only a few months into the Model Year is impressive.
