Just a place to discuss the GUI overhaul for version 0.5.0. I'm about to wrap up the XML parser so I can start working on this. Tgui, how is your prototype coming?

Any word on the flash source code? I wanted to take a look at it to start getting an idea of how hard it'll be to port to Java.

PM'd you.
Tgui, you've mentioned several times you'd like to use heavyweight components to facilitate the 3d graphs. I'd really like to be able to switch between views (3d, 2d, table) via tabs, but JTabbedPane is of course lightweight. What can we do?

We might have to do without tabs.
We can though simulate tabs on the desktop with my window controller. Anymore thoughts on this while I mull over the implications of my prosed changes?

Would there be any use for a option to compare map tables with similar ROMS?

Kosti - we can add more robust compare features eventually. It's one of the things that I always meant to do but it's never made its way to the top of my priority list.
Here's a screenshot of an early prototype of a 3d table frame. It's not much, but it's a lot more than I had this morning, and I really needed something tangible to make me feel better The tables now use a JTable, which means they'll resize better, keyboard and mouse navigation will be 100% intuitive and consistant with other applications, copy and paste will work properly. Also, memory usage and rom opening speed will be greatly improved.

Sounds like this overhaul is pretty extensive and involved. Should be awesome. Keep up the great work!

Thanks guys.. The coding itself is actually easier because I have a design worked out in my head that should make the code a lot easier to read, maintain and enhance. It's just going slower because I keep getting the design confused.

Don't suppose you can drop the logo in the 3D maps background?
Just makes it hard to view sometimes, especially in a carpc

Yeah, I think we're doing that for the next release. For now, you can just delete the image from the RomRaider directory and you'll have a white background.

That works. I call the way I set it up a feature. Allows the end user to supply any image they want. *cough* yes. thats it
