Has anyone run a DBW ECU without DBW?

I have an 04 STi ECU kickin around from my swap, but being a bugeye, I dont have a gas pedal sensor, and I really dont like DBW all that much anyway, so I'm not gonna convert it over or anything like that. But I'd like to get the STi ECU in there to have the AVCS working. I know I can use the TGV sensor/motor wiring and move the harness around to get the AVCS going, but I dont know if anyone's done the leg work in DBW TPS interface and map interaction without the stepper motor in place? Any info is appreciated...

(maybe wrong category, move it as you wish)

i think the overall question is what does the 32 bit ecu do when desired throttle angle does not equal actual throttle angle. if it throws failsafe codes left and right you'd have an issue. if not, or they can be disabled in some way, then everything should be fine with a cable throttle.

There are several throttle angle sensors in the DBW TB. All of them have to match up or the ECU freaks out. The failsafes do things like turn off the DBW control motor and lock the throttle angle at ~6% and the car is basically undrivable.

Well, thinking about it, I only need the TPS value that governs the routines to get it in and out of idle mode, boost target/control, and CL/OL switching. I would imagine all these use the same value (throttle plate position??) Or are some of them run off accelerator pedal position??

Thats gonna be the main hangup I think... I have no problem rewiring the harness, I just wonna make sure I dont do it for no reason :-)

I believe if I use the wires that would report throttle plate position with my current TPS, it would report the value to the ECU, and it doesnt matter if the DBW stepper motor routine crashes, as long as I can disable the CELs so I dont see it....

Another issue is cruise control... thats probably just never gonna work again, huh?

You won't have an IAC controller either.
