Hi:
Since we are often asked to provide LV screen shots with the logs we submit, I thought I'd take a few steps out of launching LV if it's not already open buy making it a "Tools" item in the logger menu. Or you can just press the "F12" key.
This assumes that Learning view.exe is in the users logging output directory.
Please add it to the trunk if you think it's useful.

It would be nice to let users define their own set of "tools" and their associated paths in the logger. I'm not yet familiar enough with the code layout to be able to add that functionality and manipulate the settings file to store the info.
Just a thought.

you'd have to run LV as admin if you place it anywhere in the program files directory with Vista (which is where RR is typically installed)

You should stop ecu communications and possibly release the communication port (in the case the logger or some of the tool does not release the port when stops communications) before task switching. Currently they are not able to run at the same time.

Yes I should have mentioned that part.
I didn't think I should make that happen automatically when you select to launch LV, because if you did it by accident then it would terminated your current logging session, which you probably didn't want to do.

I just meant it to be something simple so you didn't have to minimize to the desktop to double-click a shortcut to LV or have to navigate through the start menu or to the directory where it was stored.

I tied the path of LV to the users logging directory setting. So if the user changes the logging directory the menu item (or F12 key) won't work until LV is moved to the new logging directory.

I would prefer that this specific feature not be added to RR as it might imply that Learning View is an open source app, which it is not. Perhaps a user-configurable launcher that would allow user to launch any app/utility would be better.

The alternative of course is to re-implement the same functionality within the logger. I looked at it a long time ago but never had time to go through with it...

Someone could...pretty much everything you need is already defined in the ECU and logger defs.
