Does anyone know if it is supported under the LM-1 plugin? My LM-1 is out for repair and I'm thinking of just keeping it for a backup and getting the new LM-2.

Yeah, BIG thanks to matt for organising a great deal on an LM-2 for me to integrate into RomRaider. Big thanks also to all those that have donated money to cover most of the cost.

I'll be starting work on this shortly.... stay tuned!

This is not going to be easy, maybe not even possible at all yet....

To put it simply Java support of USB devices (those without a virtual com port) sucks. Especially on Windows!

Innovate are also yet to release version 3 of their SDK, despite promising to do so since early last year. As far as I can see at the moment there are only two possibilities:

* Setting the LM-2 up to use it's serial output and connecting to the laptop via a serial-usb adaptor. It should then work in the same way as the LC-1 and LM-1.
* Me (or someone else with any ideas!!) getting Java to see, connect to and read from a usb port. Not yet sure how to achieve this though.....

Option 1 may be the go for the moment...

Further to setting up the LM-2 as a serial device, from what I've found the following should work.

You'll need a LM-2 Serial Patch Cable - P/N: 3812 Image

and a Serial Program Cable - P/N: 3746 Image

plus a female-female 2.5mm joiner and a usb-serial adapter (if you don't have a serial port on your laptop).

Does anybody already have these parts? If so, try connecting:

LM-2 (MTS out) => patch cable => joiner => serial program cable => usb-serial adapter => laptop

Hopefully the LM-2 should now be connected via a com port that is visible to RomRaider. If you're lucky, logging via the existing LM-1 plugin might even work...

If someone wants to make up a dedicated cable I'd be first to buy one! I believe the Molex connector you'd need is P/N: 0430250400

Group buy? Any other ideas?

I just did a test with my LM-2 using the new SDK and was able to get a reading in a sample Java application. I used com4j to import the mtssdk.ocx. So far looks promising but I'm falling asleep here so will continue tomorrow. I'll need to look at how plugins are created in RomRaider...

That's great news. Do you mind sending me some of your code for reference?

Sorry, thought I had notifications turned on for this thread. I'll send you the code...though be warned... <standard developer disclaimer>I'm not a Java programmer nor did I spend anytime worrying about the design. It's just test code. :D</standard developer disclaimer>

PMed you the code. You should be able to use the new SDK for the LM-1/LC-1 as well.

Thanks for the code. Any and all contributions are welcome. As you mentioned, it would be great to replace the current LC-1/LM-1 code with this too.

I guess the only problem with using the MTSSDK is that it limits support for Innovate Motorsports devices to Windows (and 32-bit versions of Windows). That's probably not a big deal and the benefit is that you don't have to deal with the MTS serial protocol directly.
