I really liked DimeMod on my 2011 STI. I sold that car to get an SG with STI drivetrain and I ended up with an '04, which I knew couldn't get DimeMod but I was okay with it at first. My '04 FXT is working okay with Andea's custom MerpMod rom for 2004 STI/FXT. I'm doing full SD. My car has a rotated GT3076R for now, upgrading to a gen2 GTX3582R and ID1700X injectors for E85, etc. This custom rom supports an ethanol sensor ran to the rear O2 to do map-blending, so it's decent for my coming upgrades.
However, I'm missing (from DimeMod) the spark-cut launch control, rolling launch, larger VE tables, safeties, etc. I am thinking a 2005 FXT ECU swap would be the easiest way to convert my car to be Dimemod-compatible. Maybe a 2005-2006 WRX ECU would work. I'm thinking the 2007's have changes for CANBUS but I am not sure.
My main question for you all is: Can I swap in a 2005 FXT ECU with bulkhead harness, immobilizer box, immobilizer antenna that goes around the ignition, preferably with key? Would I need the bulkhead harness to get the wiring to the newer immobilizer/keyless-entry box?
I am just guessing that the 2005 FXT is the easiest ECU to convert to, but maybe the 05 WRX is exactly the same. Maybe 2006 FXT and WRX are the same as well.
I would bypass the immo and continue using my Compustar to start the car. I need to open the FSM for 04 FXT and 05 FXT to compare the pin-outs to see how many I would have to repin. I just ordered some depinning tools a few days ago.
Thanks to anyone that has good info about this. Now to go stare at some FSMs that will surely put me to sleep.
