Can anyone confirm if I can swap a 2006 ROM into a 2005 STI ECU (without bricking)? I know they use the same flash protocol so should be fine. I have a car that appears to need a new engine harness (someone hacked up the harness previously). Wanted to build a MERP MOD SD map for it but the AA2ZJB10J doesn't seem to be supported. So wanted to try one that is is supported.

would depend on what region you're talking about, on a EU/UK car 2005 is cable throttle and 2006 is drive by wire so the roms won't flash over the top of each other.
If you do a test flash first and see if the first few blocks match up that's usually a good sign that you can at least flash back to your old map if it doesn't go well.
