Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has some advice (or a link to some) around tuning in a new (bigger ) turbo, - mainly boost control at this stage - do I start with the stock values (for duty cycle and max D/c etc) or scrap and start from scratch, do I log of of the turbo dynamics stuff and start trying to build a new table from that?

Still got a little time, as braking in a new clutch, but wondering what's the best method (and accurate) to do with tuning the turbo (also its a 16 PSI spring vs 12 PSI on the stock JDM one - should I get a 12 psi spring (being spring should be half target boost (targeting max 24psi on pump - will probably be less).

EJ207 (32bit ECU 2010) with GTX2971r on it including all supporting mods.

Cheers,
Ryan

Hello,
im by no means a pro, but thus far ive followed this general guideline:
1) source a compressor map of the given bigger turbo and try to work out roughly what to expect from the turbo in terms of spool up and peak efficiency.
2) zero out the wgdc and td tables, back off a couple of or more degrees of timing (make sure fueling map is okay and you have good quallity fuel loaded too)
3) log map,fbk,afr,rpm,maf,tps,g/s(engine load) and find your self a good open relatively flat road where you can select 4th gear and go flat from about 2k rpm to redline or untill the boost starts comming down (hopefully not creep).

This way you will obtain the turbo's natural characteristic of the given wastegate spring. From here you make a desicion on how far boosted you want to go. It is an iterative process, rinse/repeat. You want to make your given current boost target as close to the desired one. TD will help you reach those targets at most times.

Theres more, but this should get you rolling in the right direction.
