Hello, I need to replace the engine on my 05 LEgacy Spec B with 3.0 EZ30.
The engines I can find are post facelift, or from Tribeca: 2007 or 2009. These will not have the same camshaft as the one I currently have. (U30 vs Z30): older have bigger exhaust cam lift (9,7mm vs 8.4mm) and newer have a bit more lift for intake)
I am wondering if I can keep the new camshaft with the existing tune. Or if I should switch the camshaft and put the "old" ones in the new engine, Is there an impact on the tune, on performance? Do you know if VE maps for example are different? Can I simply take a rom from a post facelift legacy and copy the VE map? Or is there a gain to use the biggest cams from one set and the other? for a NA setup.
Do you have any previous experience of this upgrade: benefits or difficulties (tuning) linked to the change? (anyway, I will remove the head and the camshaft)
Thanks in advance Guillaume

I probably won't be much help as I only have the insight of having the opposite engine swap - a (most probably) pre-facelift replacement engine in a 2007 (facelift) 3.0 Spec.B with the original ECU.
I can't be sure this cam difference was causing this, but that engine was never happy - IAM was dropping to 0 often, it was mostly sat around 0.5, occasionally I could get it up to 0.85 for a little while.
After a couple of years I got fed up and had the original engine rebuilt and now it's all good...
It should be possible to carry the maps from a facelift ECU to your original one, although you might need to adjust the ignition and valve timing maps as well...
