i would say overall you probably have too much timing, taking the advance map from someone elses tune but not the base timing as well rarely works out. Remember the ECU is adding both of these tables together and using that as the target value so at say 2.4 load you'd be up over 24 degrees total at high RPM which is likely too much.
when adjusting the base/kca maps add them together first to see what you are actually working and compare them between roms in their combined format - you can add them up pretty quickly in excel/spreadsheet apps
Yep, makes sense, thanks for the advice. If you don't mind another question, in this case would you be editing the base timing map or the KCA map? From what I've read it can be helpful to have a 6-8 degrees in the KCA map so that the ecu has a fair bit of power to automatically adjust timing, so I'd assume editing the base timing is where i want to make changes.
Just on a side note, I've done a fair bit of logging and using my diy det cans and haven't had any noticeable knock on this map, which makes me curious as to how well the ECU can adjust to avoid knock even with fairly high base timing like this? Or is it better to have a low, safe baseline and let KCA do the advance? Thanks again
