On two occasions, on two different cars I have tried to flash an '06 WRX with a stage 1 map and it has put the car into limp home mode. The CEL light turns on and cruise flashes. The car idles poorly at this point. I have made no changes to any idle parameters so I doubt it's the map. I did check the box that says "checksum fix". I have successfully flashed an '06 before. The only commonality to the problem is that both maps that had the problem were built off a downloaded stock rom from osecuroms. I'm going to try using the stock rom from the car I'm going to flash and just copy over the tables. Anyone else had this happen?

At one point in testing I flashed an image to my car that had a parameter at the wrong storage address and it ran like what you're describing (without the idle issues). The checksum fix could be wrong for your definition, or maybe you're using an incompatible revision. What was the original revision on your car and what did you get from osecuroms?

It looks like this rom has additional active checksum tables compared to other 32bit roms. This seems to be limited to the 06 WRX and FXT, though. Post up your rom and I can fix it.

EDIT: I should be able to fix this for the next release of defs.

I used tiny hexer and it looks like not all of the values were set correctly through RomRaider. Thanks merchgod for you help. I'll try flashing today and go from there.

No problem. It is just an issue with your particular rom. Most 32bit roms only have one checksum table that needs to be "disabled", but yours and the 06 FXT (but not STi) have more that will cause a checksum failure if data is changed. So, the fix just needs to be applied to those additional tables. All other roms will work just fine with the current setup.

Yeah, simple fix, just nuke that whole checksum area with 0000 0000 0000 0000 5AA5 A55A and it's Good to Go. I'm re-doing a c0bb 06 WRX tonight and I'll see if the Checksum even matters on those, since it's got a standard checksum on it to begin with and not a hacked one.

I'm haveing the same proble with my buddies car I have flashed it before with no problem but we wanted to tune on it some so I made some changes in his map and flashed it in and it did the samething as 06rexwagon posted up. The "checksum box" is checked I really dont know what is up. That same night I flashed a 06 tr with noproblem. I guess his car just doesnt want us to tune it anymore :D

Look at the HEX file in the checksum area. You probably have an old ECU_DEFS file and it's not equipped with the proper 06 Checksum fix. Update your defs.

Make sure you have the .77b definitions. It will automatically apply the checksum fix after saving. If you still have issues, send me the rom you flashed and I can take a look at it.
