ok I'm a complete noob to this and got thrown in head first....I bought a 03 from a guy and it has an open source tune on it that it has the wastegate disabled I assuming I have not logged anything or looked at anything as of yet as far as the tune goes... ive searched the site here for a base map that was even close to what I need but I cant find anything...and I am by no means a tuner I have an accessport on my other car...If anybody can help with a base map just to see if the car is running remotely right would be a great help... hell id even shoot somebody a few dollars for some help... the mods are as follows vf39 wrx blue injectors catless up and downpipe 3 inch exhaust mac 3 port boost control solenoid.....as far as I know and can verify that is the mods....I bought the car not running and now it start and runs just no boost and by the way it runs I'm assuming the wastegate has been disabled....any help would be greatly appreciated

i'd be tempted to load a 100% standard map on first and see what error codes your getting. Even with the mods it should start/drive/idle/cruise without too much fuss and you'll get a better idea of where you stand.

The lack of boost could be disabled boost solenoid, but it could also be the car is in limp mode (where the IAM is low enough that the ECU disables the boost solenoid). So a standard map will help highlight that for you.

pull the ROM and save it, if it comes up as unknown, send it to me in a private message and I'll pull the calibration ID and look at the ROM for you.

Generally it is not permitted to share ROMs that were paid for openly on the forums (as contained in a post), and you can't necessarily post/share a ROM that you can't or don't have permission to share, so this is one of those grey areas. You can totally send it to me though and I can review it for you.

Bludgod has the right idea though, load a stock ROM on and see what diagnostic trouble codes come up. Don't run it hard though, the requested wastegate duty/turbodynamics is going to do weird things with your setup if it turns out the current ROM is just zero'd out for wastegate duty or disabling things.

If you mean that you have light blue WRX injectors, then running wastegate pressure with no boost control is your safest bet until you upgrade injectors. at 9 PSI boost at 6800 rpm on the stock turbo, you're at about 89% IDC requesting 11.2:1 AFR or 0.76ish Lambda.

It gets worse, with 12 PSI reaching 85% duty at 5400 RPM at the same lambda, and 100% IDC before redline. And that's relative to your typical catless td04/ej205 non-avcs setup with stock WRX light blue injectors, and figures were determined from a manifold air temp of 86 degrees. A cold day? Hey, we need more fuel for the extra density at the same boost pressure.

Honestly if you asked me to tune your vehicle I'd not feel comfortable with more than wastegate pressure on light blue WRX injectors.

ok sorry haven't been on in a few days to reply... jon7009 the tune is a locked tune...when I tried to pull the map and look it come as unknown rom..i thought I saved it anyways but I cant find it...ill get back with you on that....can I flash a tune over the tune that's on it? as in if I try to flash a stock map over will it allow me even though its saying unknown rom? I apologize for not being more clear as well the by wrx blues I was referring to the dark blue 565 injectors....will it start/run on the 565 injectors on a stock map? there is a long story behind the situation with the car and its one of those situations where I'm basically trying to sort out the p/o s***...idk what hes done to the car and I don't think he half knew himself...im fairly certain as far as the wastegate pressure it is a tune issue... when I got the car home....it was not running... got it started and drove it about .5 mile and noticed wasn't building boost right....got to looking when I got home the 3port was not even hooked up....the vacuum line from the compressor outlet was routed to the wastegate actuators.....corrected that still just running waste gate pressure....so this is where I stand currently...I originally use the accessport and only bought the tactrix to try and see what was going on with the car when I tried to install my AP on it and it told me unknown rom...so I assumed os and found a used tactrix cheap and bought it....I really am not looking to run the car on os permanently as I get my car etuned through IA tuning and I like the simplicity of my AP for one and for two I will never have the skills to tune on my own.....the reading I have done even attempting to understand tuning is beyond my level of undertanding....I was just asking for a basemap for the setup to see if the car had any other issues before I put my stuff on it... I have a 16g 650cc injectors and some other odds and ends I intend on using but I'm just trying to sort out any other issues before I start putting my stuff on it...

just because it comes up as an unknown ROM does not mean it is locked. pull it, save it, send it to me.

if it were locked, you wouldn't be able to read it off and save an image of whatever ROM is on there.

After you do that, you can flash a stock ROM on, and then run the AP if you want. Does Cobb have an off the shelf tune that matches your vehicle's mods?

ok....ill send the rom to you today....no accessport map for my mods....they used to have one I thought...the only one that they have now uses sti pinks.....xpt has one in a map package for 165 but I don't want all those maps...I just need the one map... I emailed them to see if they would sale the one map but have got no response... hoping someone on here would have a map for a similar setup for open source but I cant find anything...ive done a lot of reading and have considered attempting t make a map but I'm still very unsure of what I'm doing so that's probably out of the question....ive done a lot of reading on tuning the last week or so and have started to slightly comprehend what is what but I don't feel confident enough to try anything.... I read in a post of someone elses post that you can copy the tables from the vehicles the parts came from into a map to get a starting point for a base map is that true... as in if I took the boost map from and 04 sti with the vf39 and copy it into the boost map from the 02 wrx it would give me a starting point... then lower the wastegate tables and go from there....same with injector scaling... is that true? I started to do it but once again I'm just not sure of what exactly I'm doing....

It's a Carberry 4.2 ROM, set up for flex fuel input on the rear 02 sensor.

Wastegate duty is not disabled.

Sounds like you need to get familiar with the engine bay and see what isn't original, and catalog that. The more familiar you are, the easier it is.

set up for flex fuel? theres nothing under the hood to run e85 the car is basically stock with a vf39 the wrx 565 injectors sti top mount it has a cheap stainless header on it a mac 3port ebcs and a silicone turbo inlet...that's all that there...ive looked the car over pretty well....had to do a timing belt when I got it home

nevermind, I checked again. flex fuel is disabled, i just read it wrong.

there isn't any reason a working boost controller and properly plumbed system wouldn't be doing something, there's wastegate duty there and some turbodynamics, so I bet if you logged current wastegate duty you'd get actual values.
