I have never posted one of my ROMs before but I figured why not since I've taken so much knowledge from this community, it's only right to give back when possible. I've been tuning EJ205's specifically for around 7 years now and have amassed a wealth of knowledge from this website. I'm a self-taught tuner with pretty decent success. I now tune as a side hustle. I figured I would throw up my personal ROM I'm running currently. It's in its testing phase as I've just made some changes.
Prerequisites to run this ROM:
VF-22 turbo (although You can make minor changes to suit whatever turbo)
ELH
Catless up pipe
Catless downpipe (mine is a divorced downpipe)
Stock 2 port EBCS with restrictor pill
Big TMIC (STI top mount does not cut it, needs to be bigger, I run a hypersport which is one of the biggest top mounts that can be bought)
At least 650cc injectors (mine are modded & flow tested STI pinks at 880cc)
Walbro 255lph fuel pump minimum
Stock TGV's (I know, I know

)
Full catless exhaust from downpipe back (mines a turbo xs twister from back in the day)
Stock air box with k&n panel filter
GFB hybrid recirc valve (any recirculating hybrid valve will do the job, this is not a 100% speed density ROM)
I run a mishimoto radiator ( not needed but helps keep temps under control)
Launch control is set using fuel cut and the defogger switch
Anti-lag is enabled using a custom TID switch, just disable anti-lag if you don't have a switch wired up to the TID pin on your ECU.
I hope I'm not missing anything else important, it's hard to keep track of all my mods, there's not much that's still stock under the engine bay. I have CP pistons and manly rods with nitrate coated crank. This ROM is a speed density/MAF sensor blend. It only uses the MAF on startup and idle, I'm at 1800 ft elevation so atmospheric pressure is 13.7 at my location. Anything beyond 14.7psi switches to 100% speed density. I use the MAF for a nice smooth idle and warm up.
This ROM is designed to run a maximum of 21 PSI boost and I've implemented somewhat of a lean cruise as well. Just cruising out of boost, afr's will be a little lean for better fuel economy but the second you start to put your foot down or start building boost AFR will match what the engine needs for whatever you're doing. This ROM has been on a dynojet and made 347hp and 321ft/lb tq at 21 PSI, ambient air was 68°f and IAT'S were 72°f during the pull. The enormous hyperflow TMIC is amazing in my opinion and for my purposes it beats out a front mount intercooler. I get great spool from my VF22 and can make 21 PSI by 3400rpm
I'm sure this ROM won't be very useful to many people since I have a unique build, especially running the stock to port EBCS, I just haven't had the need to upgrade to a three port. My two port handles everything just fine. Having a three port you can still run my ROM You would just need to re-tune all of the boost/wastegate tables and change the PWM frequency.
I don't expect this to be a perfect match for anybody's car but you may use it an alter it to fit your preferences. It is a solid tune so you can at least have a good starting point for a built EJ205 tune.
I hope someone can get some use out of this, this is 100% finished and should provide a great starting point for other buily EJ205's wanting a speed density based tune. You may experience some false knock, I do every once in a while, like getting a knock alert when I'm below 1PSI of boost, I believe I need more work on my tip in to completely fix this but I just ignore it because it's false knock and happens extremely rarely. Absolutely zero knock under boost even if you throw it into fifth gear at 2000 RPM and floor it to lug the motor you won't experience any knock.
Have fun with this and enjoy!
[*Here is an updated version of my rom, I'm noticing the threads are dying and that's really sad. This place is such a comfort zone for me, I learned almost everything I know about Subaru here.
Anyway same as above in terms of minimum requirements. I did get better injectors I didn't like running the modded ones even after flow testing. You can run dark blue wrx inj if you want too, just adjust the timing, PW, scale etc.
This is many revisions later than the original and is far superior and cleaner. I'm now also using a billit wheel VF22, it is my daily and I'm not building a racecar, the stock 22 was an amazing street turbo for lower power (-400hp) I know they have a cracking problem so I went and rebuilt mine with a billit wheel and different blade geometry to avoid the oem blades from causing any damage. Spool is significantly faster than before so all boost related dynamics should be personalized for your car. Also check the pwm of the ebcs you're running, mine likes higher numbers but lots don't. Just be reasonable No Tune is going to be perfect when it's from another person's car.
