This is a 2008 WRX 5MT with a VF52 and other conventional stage 2 hardware (catless downpipe, etc...). This tune might be similar enough to a 2009 WRX that components of the tune may be useful to help someone build a 2009 WRX tune.

STOCK INTAKE and STOCK INJECTORS only.

This tune was done at Patm = 12 psi. The timing table is not set up for higher atmospheric pressures.

This tune was done with the restrictor pills that come with the VF52. I didn't realize there were two pills in the VF52 until we were too far along in the tune. I recommend that if you are tuning this yourself that you remove the restrictor pill between the T and the actuator and use a single 1.0 mm pill between the compressor and T. Then completely retune boost (new WGDC and TD tables).

The DBW tables have been adjusted to get full WOT in 2nd gear.

Sorry if this question is not applicable here, feel free to eliminate it.
I'm trying to tune a stock 08 WRX and later this year planning on a VF52.

I have a doubt on whether it is better to change the values of the "Requested Torque" vs. "Pedal Angle" or just change the boost target to the same level as 100% pedal angle on a wider range (as you did).

An example for a better understanding:

At 6.000 rpm you kept 2.0XX bar target from 330 to 250 (requested torque). And my guess is that you did it because the requested torque at 100% pedal angle at 6k rpm is 280, not 325 as you could modify it. Is there any difference on doing it the other way?

Thanks!

I wanted to minimize the changes to the DBW tables. I ended up changing in two places. One at the top end to add a soft rev limiter and one at the low end so that 2nd gear would open up WOT below 3500 rpm.

I've seen a lot of the logs from this tune (not my car) and this is another fine example of mickey's diligence in getting not only max power, but a safe and very pretty tune. Great map!

This map came from my car. I will tell you this is the best tune I have ever seen. The car makes great power and is very very smooth uner normal driving. We did alot of revisions on this map to make it perfect!

Thanks Mickey for the awesome tune!

Could you post up the OEM ROM so I can compare? I always find it easier to understand when I actually see the differences.

Hi, sorry for the newbie question but I'm a newbie...

Why did you choose to leave all the cells at 100 in the table "Target Throttle Plate Position Maximum (Requested Torque Ratio)"?

Thanks!

I left it 100 because I want the throttle to open fully (100 percent).

Do you happen to have a Map for a 2008 WRX, AVO TBE?

Sorry to bother again but I'm trying to learn a bit.

Regarding the changes you did in the "Requested Torque Base (RPM)" table in order to achieve WOT in second gear:

You lowered the Req. Torque Base values from 2.000 to 3.200 rpm's in order to ensure that the ratio Req. Torque (Acc. Pedal) / Req. Torque Base would be >1? How does it affects the issue of not getting WOT in 2nd?

Thanks a lot!

Requested Torque is lower in 1st and 2nd gear until you reach a certain rpm.

I think merchgod is going to add some of the gear compensation tables in the next def.

Are the 08 and 09 wrx's the same ecu? My friend has a 09 wrex adn we want to try and upload this map to his ecu but want to make sure it will work good first. Also why only 12psi?

The 08 and 09 are different.

Patm was 12 psi because that's the atmospheric pressure at which the owner drives. It's not something that I can control.

What are the differences? Sorry for the stupid questions just trying to learn more and I never played with a newer ecu.
