So I am hoping someone here can help me! I just had my engine and turbo replaced, 202k miles and a valve spring retainer let go. So now I paid a mechanic $$$$ to swap in an EJ255 and a VF52 from a '2013 WRX.

I have an 05 Legacy GT with a 5EAT.

I see there is a map posted on here for an 06 LGT 5MT w/ VF52 and stage 2 parts, but I have nothing aftermarket except a catless up-pipe, and I am not sure how to swap over the proper tables to my 05 AT map - that and I realize I would have to change a lot of values (timing, boost, fuel?) in order to use it without getting knock...

Right now I am running a detuned map someone sent me which is designed for a 05 5EAT LGT with a 16G, and I am getting EGT high and Wastegate Perf. Out of Range codes. EGT high I think is normal due to the catless uppipe but the MAP is obviously not right for my turbo thus the wastegate code.

I also have some knock (2.80 in LV) at 3500 RPM and 1.5+ load. So I am not comfortable going WOT at all.

I would love to get a tune however my mechanic said I should wait until I get a fuel pump and a downpipe. Right now I just need something safe that can get me to work and back! Please, if anyone can help me, I would be very grateful!

a 2013 WRX has dual AVCS, and a 2005 LGT ecu doesn't support that, so what did you do concerning it?

I didn't do anything... the mechanic ensured me it was the same engine or at least that my ecu would work fine...?

Now I'm worried.

OK no that is not true, the 13 WRX has only intake-side AVCS. So it should be working fine. I just need a good base calibration. Thinking about buying an etune.

I a 2008 Legacy Spec B 2.5L, i've been tuning maybe I can provide some insight? Yes you need at least 91 Octane for any turbo, expect these new turbo rav or kias that have a turbo and run regular, must be low boost. I run 93 because I enjoy wasting money, jk...Most places will have 93 around me, 91 is fine depending on mods.

First, I wonder if the LGT 16g that you got the tune from used an aftermarket boost controller. most tuners strongly recommend them with any upgrades. that could potentially explain your wastegate code.
Also the compression, cam profile and volumetric efficiency of the EJ255 should be the same (or close enough), so that shouldnt require much, if any, tuning. as for the VF52, it is bigger than the vf40 for sure, but in my experience, on a otherwise stock car, the care probably doesnt know the difference. I have an 05 Legacy GT 5EAT with a intake, Catless uppipe, catted bellmouth downpipe, 2020 WRX stock catback with a VF52 and no tune and it drives normal, with no codes. Later i made some very minor tweaks to the fueling and ignition, to keep things safe. ill post up my map if you want it
If your looking for a good base map on a car that is 99% stock: go with the stock map.
