Dear All,
Ubuntu + recognize VAG-COM cable and its associated virtual COM port?
Howdy, Tried doing the exact same thing with a Linux Mint OS ((version 19.1)) and the farthest I got was getting a 32bit JRE to actually read the program and not flip the "incompatible 32bit JRE" error on me. For me at least, java is painstakingly harder to install on a linux OS, especially a version that is years out of date with all the stuff oracle changed over the past year or so but I digress....
After all that jazz, I found out that Linux read the COM ports in upper and lower letters instead of COM1, COM2, etc.... ((could be just a mint thing, someone with a lot of experience could correct me on that.))
As for the drivers they installed fine, somehow even faster than what it took my laptop with a fresh install of win7... Although one thing I saw different from OS to OS was the naming on the cable. Linux gave me the factory name from wherever back alley in china it came from and in windows 7 "OBD2 USB".
Forget about logging it with linux as well ha. ((again, personal experience))
Hope it helped
