Hi, folks!

Is there a way to inform my ECU id to RR Logger so I can see its extended parameters and create log profiles without being connected to the ecu?

My netbook screen is too small and holding it in the car too cramped to be confortable...

Connect to the ECU to filter the list. Then disconnect, the list will remain filtered.
Go in the house and sit at the kitchen table. Attach your mouse and you can then select/un-select, change the window divider size, sort the parameters, make your profiles, save them to use later.

Just don't close RR until you're finished.

No way to select the ECU from a list of ECUs if you already know what it is and aren't near your car?

It's not the ECU string we need, it's the init byte sequence (50 to 100 bytes long) the ECU reports when the connection is initialized. And every ECU ID has a different byte sequence of supported sensors across each model, year, etc.

Potentially it could be done, but we'd need to maintain a database for each and every ECU ID. Here's the short list:

I see. So is it possible to have the same ID details and a different byte sequence? Or is it the same always for the same exact ECU/code variant? Curiosity killed the cat :-)

Aside from some hacked up roms  , the ECUID and CALID are exclusive pairs. Unless the SSM routines are modified, ECUID and init sequence are always exclusive.

The issue is that half of the logger parameters are SSM ('local identifier' addressing), and the other half are direct-memory-address parameters. RomRaider relies on the init sequence to determine the available SSM parameters, instead of a definition.

And the ECU ID identifies the memory addressed parameters to display.
So yes, it is all possible.

The method I outlined above doesn't require a developer...

I will do that, thanks!

I thought all that was in the logger.xml...

Cheers,

Don't confuse the ECU ID with the ECU init string. The ECU ID is what you find in the logger.xml in the <ecuparams> section. The ECU ID is part of the information sent by the ECU when you connect. The RR Logger reads the ECU ID from the init string to know which ECU it is connected to and displays that in the status bar at the bottom of the Logger window. Then it reads the init string and from that info filters the standard SSM parameters (<parameters> & <switches>) for display.
It then uses the ECU ID to filter the Extended parameters (<ecuparams> these are actual RAM address in the ECU's memory) for display.
