The compare app has a bug, doesn't like the XML file type tag and comment stuff.

Delete this stuff:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

Thanks again for your help Dschultz, but you lost me here, lol.

Open the def file (2005Legacy25i-E2ZJ101B_v1.xml) in NotePad.
Delete the stuff at the beginning file that matches what I posted above. Save is to a new file an use that new file with the compare app.

ow, somehow I did not get notifications about your posts here.
It is not the first time the default M$ xml library shows it's limitations.

what kind of xml is this, it's not the RR ecu_defs, is it?

Yes it is an ecu_def file (from here), BUT with the proper XML tag and a comment at the beginning (I'm hoping to reintroduce the DTD info as well).
It should load into a DOM without issue. Just make sure you are not depending on the fact that <roms> is the first node/element in the tree. I suggest the code should search for the correct node and start parsing from there.

this implementation does depend on the structure: roms, rom, romid ...
DTM was a PIA when I did logger for windows mobile (over bluetooth) - default .net parser would die seeing it :)

That assumption is correct. But it wouldn't be proper to assume roms will be the first tag you encounter in the XML document, such as in the example def I pointed to.

If you ever get a chance, could you have an option to show tables that are the same as well? Maybe have a toggle for same/different?

BTW RomRaider Editor 0.5.3b RC10 and later modifies the checksum area. You may wish to exclude this area as being different or mention that the checksum area has been changed.

I see this hasn't been updated for a while, but I'm interested in other features. I'd love to see the table data displayed between the differing tables.

If the OP doesn't want to maintain this anymore, is there any chance of getting the source for the project?
