DannyW wrote: Is it possible to build and run this thing on a mac? Many errors appear on a checkout and they mostly seem to be due to a missing file com.romraider.Version that provides various settings. I see there is a Version.java.template there. Is that used as part of a build or something?
EDIT: Well, right clicking build.xml and selecting Run As -> Ant Build ... and building the "all" target seems to build everything. The zip files that get created seem to be working. Maybe these points should be for a different thread about romraider mac os support... Now Right-click on the root romraider folder and Refresh to clear the errors eclipse complains about. I see in the screen shots that the Menu bar in the main window is missing while the title bar in the table window has shrunk. Since you have a dev environment working you can fiddle with it. If you find a fix I can commit it for you. I think there's some oddities appearing between Sun Java and the OpenJDK version that may contribute to this behavior. It may be something as simple as a default value difference between the two versions. Or how a window is painted, packed or refreshed... Try changing the font or the size for the Table window title.

OK, I'll give that a try. I did not see a file "com.romraider.Version" generated anywhere as part of a build however. I'll check it when I get home tonight. dschultz wrote: I see in the screen shots that the Menu bar in the main window is missing while the title bar in the table window has shrunk.
Yes, that's Mac OS for you. The Menu bar is at the top of the screen for applications. I only took a screenshot of the window which would not include that. My entire screen would have been 1960 x 1080, a bit big for a screenshot post. dschultz wrote: Since you have a dev environment working you can fiddle with it. I'll give it a shot. It is very odd. If you guys use git instead of svn then you could just pull my changes instead of having to email diffs around. No need for a central source repository either. dschultz wrote: I think there's some oddities appearing between Sun Java and the OpenJDK version that may contribute to this behavior. I'll play around with it some more and see if the font size etc.. have any effects.

Unless there's a .NET Framework for MAC's, probably not. You would have to run it in a VM or boot up in Windows.

There is .NET for Mac OS: http://www.mono-project.com/Main_Page BTW. I tried having a brief look at the code to see if I could figure out where to change the font or table window geometry, etc... Not being an expert Java developer or an expert Romraider developer it was not obvious to me. I'm still willing to look at issues with this so any pointers in the right direction would be welcome.

Maybe look at com.romraider.swing.TableFrame.java that's where tables are rendered.

Sorry I didn't get back sooner.. to get the titles working all you have to do is:
under /src/com/romraider/swing/TableFrame.java in TableFrame:
public TableFrame(Table table) { super(table.getRom().getFileName() + " - " + table.getName(), true, true); setTitle(table.getRom().getFileName() + " - " + table.getName()); setTable(table); add(table); setFrameIcon(null); setBorder(createBevelBorder(0)); if (System.getProperty("os.name").startsWith("Mac OS")) { putClientProperty("JInternalFrame.isPalette", true); } setVisible(false); setJMenuBar(new TableMenuBar(table)); toolBar = new TableToolBar(table, this); add(toolBar, BorderLayout.NORTH); setDefaultCloseOperation(HIDE_ON_CLOSE); table.setFrame(this); addInternalFrameListener(this); }
Its a difference in how the Mac JVM works, so I have it just apply that on Mac. Works fine for me.

This thread is surprisingly recent! I was able to log through Romraider, but I have no luck in finding where to put the 'cars_def.xml' file in the Romraider directory..
Another problem I'm having is getting ECUflash to work. Where should I put the Subaru folder to read through the metadata directory.
Thanks VERY much, I had almost given up on logging/tuning with a mac!!

The instructions in the threads of both of those files are very clear as to where the files are to be placed in the directory structure. I suggest you go back and read them.

Got everything working but EcuFlash. I'm almost positive now that it is mac os10.6 holding me back. Maybe I will upgrade and see if it works!

Were you able to flash with ecuflash? I can only log and edit maps.
