you're using the wrong flash method, switch to wrx02 flash method and see what it says.

Just gone through this today with my first attempt at ecuflash and romraider

Firstly neither software would connect, found i had to tweak the pins on the openport slightly and then romraider worked but ecuflash still would not.

I found i had to open the ecu read diaglog on, turn ignition on and hit read really quick then it worked, if even a 2 second delay before hitting ok it would error out

yeah some cars have a loose socket so the connection can be spotty. I find a cheaper OBD extension lead off amazon to be a good tight fit though and it keeps the openport away from kicking distance.

for a lot of the early bugeyes the time window between key on and hitting OK is VERY small so yeah you have to be quick about it!

Yeah the stupid immobiliser complicated the process as it kicks in as soon as key is turned off so i had to make sure i beeped that before turning the key on as well
