So in the next few months i will be uploading Carberry to my 04 EDM WRX and i would like to keep my immobilizer, do you have any further thoughts on this. Do you think it is possible to avoid losing the immobilizer functionality in some way.
Cheers m8... Good question Mark! It is one that I've asked myself to, but I hav'ent got around to taking a closer look at the wiring and how/what the immobilizer does to the ecu. Someone told me it cuts IPW and an ecu power wire but I'm not sure if this is true as of yet. My thoughts were to re-wire it in a way where it was still doing something. I have 3 kill switches on my car so it's not the end of the world, but the factory immobilizer not operational, is so far the only downside with my switch to carberry. Not sure about EDM, JDM or USDM ecu's as to how they work with their factory immobilizers. The ADM 01-05's are all wired the same. I'm guessing there maybe some people with ADM's running carberry that think their immobilizer is working when it actually isn't. Smennie, one of the members on here is running same ecu as mine on his Fozzie with no immobilizer and uses carberry to get around it. If he flashes a stock rom it doesn't start. I think the understanding is that Carberry will keep the immobilizer if it sees the immo data. if the 4 wires are swapped to the non immobilizer wiring schematic after it's flashed then it will run as it were not immobilized. Maybe someone else can confirm this. I am running a immobilized ECU on carberry in a non immobilized car so a little different scenario.

For ADM 01-05 carberry makes the stock immobilizer useless. You can start the car with a blank key and or the antenna disconnected. For this same reason you are able to run an immobilized ecu in your car.

eves Birdflu,
I think that when I come to flash with the Carberry rom I will disable my immobilizer first. Then hopefully if everything goes to plan (it runs OK) I will try to re-enable the immobilizer, and then go from there. I was just hoping not to lose the immobilizer if I could help it. Other folks seem to think its not gonna be a prob anyway.
Being as i'm here does anyone have an opinion about the parellel fuel feed mod? And even twin pumps? .....From what I read on Stealth316 the Walbro pressure relief is set at 70psi...
Thanks for any input... Mark

After the flash you can check if it's working or not by disconnecting it, disconnecting the antenna plug or using a blank key. If it starts then you know it's now doing nothing and if you were to reconnect/flash back to the stock rom the immobilizer system would be working again. I'm new to carberry and don't know if the immobilizer does or doesn't work with different ecu's. I can only speak of my experience with ADM. When carberry is flashed it makes the two communication wires from the immobilizer irrelevant. The key light still flashes on the dash and stops when you insert the key. On the surface it appears to be functioning normal as the key, barrel, antenna and immobilizer module are all still working correctly. I would like to know if other people running this rom around the world have actually checked if their immobilizer system is working or not.

i cannot for the life of me load the carberry rom on romraider. I have downloaded and loaded the carberry ecu defs in romraider but when i attempt to open the hex it tells me no definition was found.
Is there something broken i should know about? I have tried it on 2 different PCs. same result...

from the top:
ECU Definitions > ECU Definitions Manager >
Step 1: Select Add and go to the romraider definition you want to add. make sure it isn't an ecuflash definition.
*seriously though, this is super common. new people try to load roms with ecuflash definitions all the time.*
Step 2: Select Apply Step 3: Select Save Step 4: repeat from step 1 for each other definition you want to add, and don't forget to make sure they are romraider definitions and not ecuflash definitions.
Concerning definitions in Romraider Definitions Manager, if you have more than one version of a definition for a given type or types of roms, (calibration IDs) the one which is descending from the top has it, becomes the active definition for that ROM. This is how you switch between axis definitions or the change axis value type definition. In romraider, you might have all three definitions for Carberry (and maybe one for an older version, etc.) and whichever one comes first from the top/down is the one used. Moving one definition above another and whichever one is at the top is used. apply, save, open rom, etc.
For ecuflash, copy the definition you wish to use to whichever sub folder under rommetadata/subaru/ you feel like you can remember. Do this for only the one of the three ecuflash definitions you wish to use. If you're only using ecuflash for flashing, it doesn't matter if you're using MAP axis or LOAD axis definition, either will *flash* the same, but not look the same with the "wrong" definition. So if you're going to change the timing axis type in ecuflash, you would move the load or MAP axis definition you were using to a folder that isn't within rommetadata, and move the change axis definition into one of the folders. open rom, change axis type, save rom, close rom, exit ecuflash, move out change axis definition, move in the correct axis type definition, open ecuflash, open saved rom, edit tables for new axis, etc.

So i have done everything exactly as you stated. I use Romraider currently and i know how it all works as far as definitions go. But now i want to go Speed density and thought the carberry was the way to go. I downloaded and extracted the Carberry rom. loaded the CarBerryROM-rev4.2_MAPAXIS-IGNITION(Standard) (Also tried the others) def into Romraider. Removing all other defs. - If I don't remove the regular defs it will skip past the Carberry def and loads a standard Romraider def and shows a few of the group N features but none of the Carberry rom features like flex fuel or other switches If i remove all defs except for the Carberry provided ones and try to open the Speed Density Base.hex file that is included in the zip it just says "ECU Definition Not Found..... I'm losing my mind here. I have downgraded 3 versions of Romraider and tried different java versions. I just don't know what else to do. I know I'm missing something stupid.

so you might have missed patching the rom. the rom that comes in the zip is not the patched rom, it's the rom-to-be-patched, a stock A4TJ1X00 calibration ID rom. find the patching file, patch the un-patched rom, and there you go.

I have a problem with carberry, how can I increase fuel, sd and ignition map top row pressure, it only shows me maps up to 38psi and I want some more. Also it says over there that you have higher sd map resolution, how did you get this? And question n2. I have bricked sti 03 ecu if I buy wrx ecu will my avcs work after I flash it to carberry? And do I have to do something with immo or it'll be ok with carrberry?

I have a problem with carberry, how can I increase fuel, sd and ignition map top row pressure, it only shows me maps up to 38psi and I want some more. the top row is called the x-axis, the column to the left is called the y-axis. in some roms the x-axis for most tables is "engine load", which is mass of air, grams per revoltion (g/rev) but in this ROM many of the x-axis in tables is pressure based, in absolute units, referred from the manifold pressure. (MAP)
to get yourself a different range, put different values in those cells. when you save the file, those are the values now represented for that column or row. Also it says over there that you have higher sd map resolution, how did you get this? you're just barely getting into this ROM, probably best not to throw more complicated stuff at you. You've just gotten in the pool and you're asking about the deep end of the pool. Let's finish basic swimming lessons first. And question n2. I have bricked sti 03 ecu if I buy wrx ecu will my avcs work after I flash it to carberry? And do I have to do something with immo or it'll be ok with carrberry? AVCS will work in any ECU that is equipped with AVCS functionality. For instance, my USDM 16-bit ECU did not come with AVCS, and thus will not support it. I can swap in any other region 16-bit ECU that had AVCS though, and Carberry will work with it. (again, if the ecu supports Carberry in the first place, is an applicable ECU for the ROM) you won't have to do anything with the immobilizer, but it won't be functional in the traditional sense, anymore. not entirely. you can do some searches on the forums regarding that.

Thanx for answer. About axis it's pretty clear now. I just didn't realize that I can change those values for axis, cause I previously worked with different ecu based systems and there it works differently, kinda you had to change quanting values so I automaticly thought that here I should do this to - in the xml def. I'm sorry to reasking but I really need this bad, may by I novice at carberry, but I totally not novice in the whole ecu thing, so I would greatly appreciate if you could explain me how the things abou table resolution and xml work. Please. And one more question I noticed in my log files that abs. pressure kinda top out for some value - even though in reality pressure in manifold higher the pressure in log file don't show values more then some. In my case this was about 38psi and as I said previously I need more) I believe a lot more . So the question is - where and how this restricted? After I changed resolutions of x-axis in tables does this mean that I moved this restriction further? or it related to some other thing?

one of the logged manifold pressure values is capped around ~18 PSI relative.
you should log Manifold Absolute Pressure (direct)
and make sure you are using the right definition in romraider logger
PM sent
