Hello,

After many years to use and optimize my reference AZ1G202G map on my EDM STI 2010 (ECU ID 5A42784207), I wanted to switch to MerpMod map for its flexfuel capabilities.

I tried to do the complete process of patching but without success. I have many errors and a lack of knowledge for HEW and Sharptune to completely understand the problem.
I finally decided to use an already patched map version patched.bin (from aijmod-final_2023-master and based on patch AZ1G202G.MeRpMoD.Switch.Debug.v01.60.d21.9.17.1401) and associated definitions (see enclosed versions).

After hours and hours of testing, everything is running correctly (blending ratio by TGV left, boost, timing, fuel hacks, etc.) and exactly like my reference map.

But there is a parameter that is not working correctly : tip-in at idle.
Idling is correct but when I touch throttle plate, response is really bad. Regardless if do it quickly, slowly with small or large amount. Sometimes, this leads to engine stalling.

I verified all tables, tried to disable every hack and modified tip-in significantly. Result is always the same, nothing changed. I suspect an incorrect parameter adress.
Logging of injector pulse width reveals that injected fuel quantity is way too large : x3 amplitude with similar inputs compared to my reference map (see enclosed log).

I have tested ALL versions that I've found on Romraider forum (Flex2, FLEX5, Aijmod, user maps, etc.).
All map parameters have been verified and compared to my reference map.

My questions are :

- Is it a known issue ?
- Can I ask to an expert to patch my reference map ?

Thanks.
Romain

Everything seems to work, except the CEL is on, and no codes exist. Has anyone had this problem? It's probably something stupid.

Afaik nobody has a fix for this and I have seen it as well.

I've used a Aijmod already patched AZ1G202G before and I didn't have any issues with Tip-in. Had it on 2 different cars, one that was running SD, the other one was running MAF, none had issues.

Eventually I made my own patch forking from Aij's.

Best regards

Thank you for your reply.

About parameters addresses, are there different versions of AZ1G202G ?

Could it be a definition file issue ? Can I ask you if you used same definition file (AZ1G202G.MeRpMoD.Switch.Debug.v01.60.d21.9.17.1401.xml) ?

I will retry the complete patching process with a new computer, from Aij's.

Regards.
Romain

For what it's worth, I just flashed AZ1G202G-FLEX5 (From OP) onto my Foz and I'm also experiencing the richness/stumbling on accelerating while stopped.

I can see it in the logger, too, as my FFB as AFR drop down to 9 when applying throttle - even when I reduce tip-in substantially.

I'm planning to swap to the Aijmod version (of AZ1G202G) but seeing that you're using it already and experiencing this, doesn't inspire me.

Do you have a manual transmission in your Forester?

I also had issues with the AZ1G202G rom in my Forester, but mine is a 5EAT.

I ended up having to patch the Forester rom instead.

Yeah, mine's a manual.

It's gotten better after a bit of driving, but still noticeable (maybe because I'm looking for it).

Going to switch to the Aijmod rom to wrap my head around its functionality, and then look at trying to patch my rom or use a different one to see if it fixes the issue.

Thank you for your confirmation, I was starting to go crazy

Richness is exactly like you describe it : very rich AFR (resulting to -25 % closed loop correction) and no tip-in correction possible (tables or Merpmod flexfuel factor).

I tried Merpmod and Aijmod versions and result is the same.

Regards.

Is your car tuned or stock? (Doesnt matter, stock will just be quicker for you).

Download the AE5IB00V flex file in the OP.

If you're already tuned, you'll need to copy the AE5I910V.xml from your normal definitions folder, into the ECUFlash folder from the download (path in next step)).
If you're stock, (doing a compare shows only Idle Speed differences, but i didn't look too far into it), it shouldn't matter as you can just use the new tables.

Change the ECU Flash settings to point to the defs that were included with that rom (to the ECUFlash folder, so path should be ...\AE5IB00V-Flez\ECUFlash).

Open the patched.bin that was included in the download.

Open the rom you read from your ecu (if tuned) and begin the slow process of copying the data from your rom, into the relevant tables for the patched.bin rom.

Once complete, save.

Connect to car via Tactrix.

COMPARE the file from ECUFlash to the one on your car. The first two sections MUST be yes (they should, as hXd doesn't show any differences before 002000) .

Test write, then write. (I do a compare before power cycling just in case, even though it already does it during the flash).

Power cycle the ignition and start the car.

Should be about it, but obviously i take no responsibility and all modification is done at your own risk :)

i appreciate you, i am tuned. so just to be clear am i replacing my current ecu folder under the ecuflash inside my program files? after i copy my ae51910v folder into the new ecuflash folder?

If you're just running a tuned stock rom (no flat foot shift/launch control/etc) then you only need to copy the AE5I910V.xml file from the Impreza STI folder.

Copy that file only to the ECUFlash folder from the download and then point ECUFlash to that folder.

If you did it right, both the patched.bin file you downloaded, and your current rom will both open.

Then you just copy the tables to the patched rom (use the compare roms feature to quickly identify the different tables).
