Can anybody shed some light on the triggers for this CEL to help in troubleshooting an 06 Forester that is exhibiting this when running a merpmod patch ?

The answers back from google are pretty generic, "P0607 is the standard OBD-II trouble code for an issue with the engine control module (ECM). The code suggests that the ECM is experiencing problems, such as power failure or memory loss, and thus may not be able to do its job properly."

The car is exhibiting missing, and not responding to throttle inputs at the same time. This same patch works on newer cars.

Any ideas ? I'm going to try trimming it back in case it is just a simple case of "too busy"...

I had this issue on my 2006 STi

Somehow the rom had become corrupt or "unhappy". Long story short when i compared them table for table it said one had a change but it was identical. i copied all the tables from broken one to the first rom i used, flashed and all went away.

I put it down to some form of corruption during copying or maybe the USB stick was on its way out.

Since then i have had it on two 06 XT's and solved it the same way.

Hope it helps

thanks for the reply.

That's super interesting. In this case, the 06 Foz XT would exhibit this behaviour immediately after flashing the merpmod/aijmod ROM.

I reverted to an earlier version of ROM with less stuff touched/hacked, and it ended up working. I didn't have the car local so no opportunity for in-depth debugging...
