Have you tried in Ecuflash to set your vehicle type to non USDM (so get wrx02 flashing method) and flash back your saved rom ?

Pointing out I'm a noob doesn't get me any closer to a resolution captain obvious..but, thanks for your .2 cents

I wasn't pointing out that you are a noob, I was pointing out that you're going at it all wrong. You worked very little at getting up to speed before the fubar and now you've got an attitude about how you think you should be helped.

By changing the process of when you put emphasis into learning about something, you can prevent this sort of thing from happening again.

Slow down, and chill out.

No I haven't, but that is a good idea. I will try this.

I talked with a tech at tactrix and he said the version ecu flash I was using was very out dated. So I updated it. It had the same outcome.

Also, I connected a Cobb AP to see if that would recognize my ecu. It wouldn't. The Cobb is unmarried and suitable for my car. So I know it's the ecu.

No attitude brochacho. I am aware of the error of my ways. I need solutions. Ideas. I'm racking my brain with the amount of info I've ingested lately

Selecting Non-USDM in ECU Flash had no effect. It was worth a shot tho..

"SSM2 ECU ID is 3D04403005"

This is the problem I believe. When I hooked up the Cobb AP, it said to call technical and give them this number. 3D04403005..

Is this from your personal experience or just a guess?

The options known to work that have been posted are:

-Dealership can reflash/reset
-Cobb AP. Marry and unmarry will reset the ecu

The dealer here wants way too much, and I don't know anyone with a cobb. Therein lies my dilemma...

Somebody somewhere with a s*** ton of knowledge has cracked this code. That's all it is. I need that guy..

Yes, I'm just sucking it out of thin air. I tell you what, instead of coming on here with a minimal number of posts, and antagonizing people who _know_ what they are talking about who are trying to help, how about pulling your neck back in a little and listening? And whilst you're at it, go to the ecu analysis and definition section, and check what it is I do on this site, and then come back and ask again.

Have 16 bit ecus been reflashed before?

Yes.

Does anybody do it now, like Tactrix?

No - it's not worth the effort.

Will anybody who may be working on it (and there is someone, that if you had searched, is busy trying to do just that right now) be willing to help after this thread?

No.

Man..it must be sensitive Sunday or something...

Anyway, thanks for the input and criticism. I'll be researching this until I figure out the solution. When I have, I'll share with the community. So far no luck.

Considering the fairly low cost and availability of a used ecu, it might be worth your time and effort to just buy a replacement. It sounds like you'd be up and running pretty quickly by going that route.

That's what I'd do if this were my problem. Best of luck.

Ok. So I found a stock ecu out an 02. It runs better. No check engine lights. I tried to put my old base map on it, no go.
