It makes a 4 cylinder sound like a v8 top fuel dragster at idle with huge cams .

Sounds like fun, but how do we get our throttles to crack open?

This is waht i posted sometime ago on NASIOC, response to a similar thread as here. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthr ... 56&page=12post #558 Hey guys, remember to actually get boost while running ALS, you need to get more air into the engine. The stock IAC control valve will NOT provide enough air to make significant boost. Getting this “extra air” can be accomplished few different ways. On the DBC cars (Drive by cable) there are 3 solutions.
1. You must “pre-open/crack-open” the throttle body butterfly valve a bit permanently (that’s why you get a lumpy idle on rally cars running ALS, without it being active) the lumpy idle is a side effect of timing mod on non-ALS map. 2. You get a solenoid to kick open the throttle partially when ALS is ON, = more air going into intake manifold. 3. Or you can incorporate a separate “valve” to get the extra air into the manifold when ALS is on.
On DBW (drive by wire) cars, well that is easy, the ecu takes care of the TB valve opening for you
As for how much boost it should provide, on ALS you can have 10psi+ easy (but it depends how much you love your engine.) the more/higher PSI you run in the AL mode, the harder it is on your components.
LC is also hard on the engine, it is essentially the same as ALS.

Getting close to releasing the first version, I should be able to post it up by the end of the weekend First version will include Knock-CEL, anti-lag via the defrost button, anti-lag IAC valve settings, and enabling of launch control separate from anti-lag.

I can vouch for Jason, This guy is for real. Im doing testing for him and I will just say that my cel is GONE This is the first time in two years that I havnt seen that stupid aggrivating yellow light. I am going to get some of the other things tested for the first release this weekend. I was skeptical at first when Jason was telling me he had fixed the cel issue. Thank You Jason! The whole community thanks you. I think all of us would be happy with just the cel being fixed. But, you are going out of your way to share your work with the community. Again Thanks! Ed

Rotational idle is basically a fast idle with fuel cut on individual cylinders, intended for cooling down. The engine goes "brum brum brum" not "bang bang bang." I don't doubt that the IACV is insufficient for building boost, but it might be enough for a decent rotational idle. If the IACV isn't sufficient, I suspect you could use a solenoid valve (similar to the ones we use for boost control) to create more airflow on-demand. Hook one port to any manifold hose (brake booster, BPV, etc) and hook the other port to a fitting on the turbo inlet, so that it pulls in metered air. Drive it with a switch that also triggers an ECU input (TGV position sensor, perhaps) so that when you open the solenoid valve, the ECU starts cutting fuel to alternating cylinders. I haven't tried it - I'm just thinking out loud here - but it seems do-able.

Update, The cel is off. There is a threshold for fbkc that you can set. If fbkc goes over the threshold the cel will light up and let you know that timing is being piulled by the ecu. Antilag and LC each have the own enable switches and can also each be enabled by the defrost button. Jason is working on getting the fuel pump duty cycle to change from low to high from a psia threshold. Hopefully we can get it tested soon.

I haven't tried it - I'm just thinking out loud here - but it seems do-able. Nice work Jason and all, in the case of using IACV during antilag, it is good for up to about 5-6psi boost on a JDM setup, good for me who really loves my engine .
