Hi

I've been having this issue. I've set up my total timing to be around 10 degrees at peak torque, usually 4400rpm, and around 3.5g/rev

however it seems that the total timing can reach as high as 17degrees in the region, and generally starts pulling timing on repeated runs.

I've attached 2 of the 3rd gear logs to show this.

My question is, why would the total timing be higher than what i have set? My timing comp tables are also not set up to add timing in any case, and are not in the 4000rpm region.

Thanks.

Are you factoring in your knock correction advance max tables?

Hi, yes. The xls file that I have attached is Base + KCA.

The compensation tables are not set up to add any timing on top of Base+KCA. Pls refer to attached.

It just feels like the car is adding timing up to about 18degrees around peak torque even as I set it to around 11degrees. And it will subsequently start pulling timing from FBKC and FLKC until the logged total timing becomes around 12-14 degrees.

:?

Attached another log, well its seems to be shooting for a minimum of 17.5 degrees rather than 11degrees.

In this log, there's no fbkc or flkc though. But usually after a few runs, it will start pulling timing from 2.81 degrees up to 3.87 degrees, ending up with a Ignition Total Timing of around 13 degrees.

I suppose I'm logging and referencing the correct parameter "Ignition Total Timing"?

I had a guess but not too sure of it myself - could it be because the timing cannot ramp down fast enough during the pull? Because at around 3600rpm, it is still at 21degrees timing, and asking it to drop down to 10 degrees by 4000rpm is not possible?

An update, I found the thread -
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=666

And made changes to the Comp A tables, i zeroed that out. My Comp B was already zeroed out from stock.

The only non-zeroed compensation table is Coolant temp.

I managed to get the total timing to follow 10 degrees for 3 to 4 runs, subsequent runs the timing went back to 17.5 degrees. I wasn't able to get it to be 10 degrees for subsequent runs.

Attaching 2 screen captures.

Do I need to zero out the coolant temp table too? how does it work?
:?: :?:

Realised that there is another table to try, the Base Timing Alt ECT...hopefully it will work. I missed this table earlier. :o

I'm having this issue on my 2011 STi. Trouble is, I don't see any Base Timing Alt ECT table. Maybe it isn't mapped in the definition I have? I do have the ECT referenced compensation tables, but they don't appear to call for extra timing in the normal operating coolant temp range.
I only have 6-7 degrees total timing in the peak torque region going up to maybe 17 in the higher revs. Just about every other log it runs 2-4 degrees higher that the base + DA timing. I don't get any knock, but I'd rather raise the base + DA without worrying about the ECU adding timing when it pleases. Anyone have a clue for my noob self?

Thanks to td-d for an update to the ecu definition. I think zeroing out these two tables should take care of the issue.
