Alright, i'm not sure if i'm posting in the right area for this... But i drive a 4eat and i'm sick of it's random and frustrating behavior. Thanks to Ride5000 i was able to get my hands on a TCM .pak file. I know this file holds all the keys to the 4eat TCM, my question is what do i have to do with this pak file now to get the info I need out of it?

It is almost certainly encrypted and it would be pointless to mess with it until their was a means to flash the TCM. The only person in the openecu community capable of figuring out how to do that (that I can think of) is Colby of Ecuflash. He has already seen the Subaru updates CD a while back, so that isn't the issue. Probably not worth the effort for the relatively small number of users that would even potentially benefit from it and given everything that is going on right now - new tactrix cable, logging firmware, etc.

What is the hardware required?

The tactrix 2.0 lists this:

Quote:
J2534 PassThru support with Windows DLL

I'm wondering if this is something that can be used.

This link explains that J2534 pass through support: http://www.drewtech.com/support/j2534/ I haven't gotten a chance to read through it but at a glance it looks to be way over my head.

I know the Demand for TCU control isn't much, but it seems to be growing and now that Subaru thought it wise to make the new FXT's automatic only i'm sure the demand will continue growing.

You still can't read the TCM to get an unencrypted dump. The TCM files on that CD are about as useless as the ECU ROM files on the CD, even if you could flash them with the OP 2.0 (which is unlikely). Unless Colby decides to add support for reading/flashing the TCM and then someone disassembles the unencrypted TCM dump, I think you are out of luck.

I think if someone hacked the TCU, people would come out of the woodwork to get a reflash. The amount of 4eat/5eat subaru fellas as definitely grown over the last few years..

So I'm revisiting the TCU reprogramming info, and i found a 2005 Forester N/A TCM pak file. Here's a link to it: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9760777/31711AJ361.pak

I also found out some data for the file:

Decryption Keyword: 7494C5BC

SUM Value: 0450

New CID: 86F37WB0

Now we have a TCM rom file there, with what i can only assume is the Keyword to Decrypt the file, now what?

We currently have some exceptionally good DBW accelerator and throttle tables that optimise the existing TCM tables

^^ Try these and you may be surprised.

well the reason i'm coming back to this is because myself along with a couple other guys are having problems with too much horsepower. The TCU is waiting until 4000rpm in 3rd gear to lock up the torque converter, and at that point the car's making too much power, and the lock up clutches don't have enough line pressure to clamp & lock up so under heavy throttle the lock up clutch is just slipping real bad wasting power. If we were able to change the lock-up parameters so that the clutches locked up earlier, maybe we could fix the issue and help more power get to the ground...

Trust me... the DBW tables work adequately. I am tuning an SG Forester at the moment with a Blouch 1.5 on 21psi without a single issue.

Is the transmission stock?

Had I missed something ?

How come that DBW tables rise clutch pressure?

I spent weeks playing with the system but it appears to be the Requested Torque(RT) Values on the Accelerator pedal causing higher line pressure and more lock up. 0.6 seconds for a 3rd to 4th gear shift at full throttle  and it was shifting like a VW DSG box, barely any change in acceleration just watching the tacho drop.

It probably needs a little more fine tuning but I do not have an SG Forester Auto that lives close to me for further development.

Stock with cooler and fluid change
