Would any of you be willing to point me in the direction of some resources for understanding the methods employed when trying to break the encryption on Subaru ROM files?
I have done a little work with Ida and I understand how to find tables but I'm still having trouble understanding how one gets an encrypted ROM file.

What do you mean by encryption?
The ROM in my 05 LGT wasn't encrypted... did they start encrypting in more recent years?

I'm attempting to understand the encryption used in more recent vehicle models. It is my understanding that 2013+ Subaru vehicle body controllers are using encrypted firmware for J2534 re-flashes.
