I own a performance shop in Vietnam. We have a few Subaru projects. Most of the subarus here were imported from the Us hence USDM. I run cobb on them no problem.

Howevef there is an EDM STi that recently got completely built with all new long block, turbo kit, fuel system. Now the tuning part is a problem. My tuner only works with Cobb unfortunately.

I tried using Renesas FDT to flash the 11 USDM STi rom on to the ECU. Everything went fine and I got the Cobb tuning suite going fine. All sensors work. But there is a much bigger problem: the engine won’t CRANK and the immobilozer kicks in. I cna have the dealer fix the immobilizer but the NO CRANK part makes me worry.

Something must be wrong with the starter signal?

Has anyone done this before?

MY08+ immo disables starter if is out of sync.
Moreover usdm and edm may have different eeproms and you are to solder 93c86 chip for edm to usdm conversion.

Soldering the new USDM immob chip is a NO for me as I don't have any spare USDM ecu/chip.

How about flashing the USDM content onto the EDM chip? Do you have the content Sasha?

How about having the dealer reprogram the immob? Even after that will the new flashed USDM ecu and the immob will talk with each other?

Before you may use USD flash on EDM ecu your need to solder\change to 8pin immo chip 93C86 instead of EDM version 93C56.
I may upload eeprom content applicable.
Any TV repair shop is able to do this.
After that you will be able to sync the ecu\cluster\body integrated unit\keys at your Subary dealer location.

So here is the procedure:

1) Buy the new 93C86
2) Flash the new 93C86 with your content. I gotta figure out how to flash it actually.
3) Replace the 03C56 with this newly flashed 93C86
4) FDT flash the SH5078 with USDM ROM (same year modle)
5) Use dealer tool to sync the immobilizer

DONE.

You are correct.
Moreover if 93C56 content maybe read an applicable sync'd content of 93C86 maybe prepaired without Subaru dealer services.
