Hey everyone,

Got my hands on a 2006 WRX STI EDM that’s far from stock, but on stock sh7058 ecu. I was able to read the ROM with both ECUFlash and PCMFlash, but none of the usual map editing tools can interpret the file. Looks like it might be encrypted, locked, or otherwise modified by a previous tuner—unfortunately, I don’t have any details on who tuned it.

I've attached a 7z that includes:
The current ROM (read from the car)
A known stock ROM for this model

Looking for guidance on two things:
1. Is there any way to decrypt or make the current ROM usable for tuning?
2. If I flash the stock ROM, is there any risk of bricking the ECU, or should it work fine assuming it’s a matching ROM?

Appreciate any insight from those who’ve dealt with this before.

the rom has been removed as you didnt tune it yourself (against forum rules).

However, the file you pulled isn't anything crazy its just patched with Merpmod: A8DH200Z.MeRpMoD.Flash.Testing.v00.60.d15.8.5.1809.

The A8DH200Z defs should get you most of the main tables, then you can search around on here/github for those specific merp defs to see the rest of the tables. Personally I'd just go back to a stock rom and start tuning it yourself.

Hey, thanks for the reply, that's exactly what I've did, apologies for not following the forum rules, I'm still a newbie, but I'm learning it
