i have been on http://www.aktivematrix.com , MalibuJack has developed an unlocking tool for the EVO7,8,9

Is there anyway that this can be developed for the Subaru?

a thread has been set-up over there but seems to have died a death though lack of support http://www.aktivematrix.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=44

is there anyone on here that could help?

Thanx

Are you talking about unlocking an ECUTek map? There is one, just not widely known or available, and you have to pay for it.

Never heard of that before. Unless you are talking about sending your ECU to tactrix to use their recovery service (32-bit ECU).

I'm pretty sure the head honcho of Ecutek said in the Nasioc thread that you can take your Ecutek locked ECU to any Ecutek dealer and they'll flash it back to stock.

I'm not sure how secure you are about talking about this on the forum Merch, so I'll await guidance. The software I have allows the reading and writing to ECUTek locked ECU's, it doesn't remove the lock as such.

I've known about this for quite a few months, I initially kept it quiet because I didn't know what ECUTek's position would be. But hearing that the EVO's have had an unlocker for years, then I guess it's ok! It is my ECU after all and I never signed nor agreed to a license agreement with ECUTek in any shape or form.

Yeah, not something that should be discussed here. I'm of the opinion that people should just start from scratch with a stock map (or other available OS map) - ditch the commercial ROM alltogether. That way, you can post the ROM here without issue and you aren't dealing with some of the oddities that can arise with commercial ROMs (such as Cobb's RT code manipulating the way certain boost control tables are used).

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be checking posted ROMs here in the future more closely for Ecutek code, which obviously we would not allow.
