I am still trying to extract ROM image from probably the first 32 bit DBW JDM 2002 ecu.

If this is the case, is there any checksum inside (that usually takes place for DBW ecus)? It does not look so for me...
I have got some probable table definitions from the calibration data got before. They fill the bill for fuel, boost, ignition trimming. I am complete sure I could correct calibrations.
But..
If the ROM image incomplete or some kind of content checking is implemented I probably will loose this ecu (and ability to continue analisys) after BOOT MODE write (the only way I see to download corrected ROM back).
Edit:
0x000000 - 0x00015F locations at ROM image may be incorrect. SSM allows the most of those locations to be rewriten\changed by ecu program (SSM standard parameters).
They may also be covered by RAM remapping to ROM 0x000000-0x001000 or 0x00000-0x002000 regions.
