The car is a bugeye impreza
ecu reports MY05 impreza
flash connector is just like in other bugeyes
the ecu doesn't enter test mode when green plugs are connected
ecuflash doesn't read rom when both green plugs and flash terminal are connected

any ideas?

its likely to be an ecutek locked ecu

the car surrendered
it was electrical problem with entering test-mode

but I stlll have one ecutek'ed - is there a way of cracking that down?

you have to take it to someone who deals with ecutek to take off the flash and reflash to stock
