I've been working on a new map and I zeroed out the KCA additive tables and moved the necessary ignition timing to KCA Primary Cruise/Non-Cruise. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that the ECU might need to see some values from the additive tables in order to advance the initial IAM value.

After uploading my map, my IAM has been stuck at the initial 0.5 value for two driving sessions. I've seen no knock that would delay the IAM evaluation and even tried getting into low boost in 3rd (which usually advanced IAM pretty quickly for me.) This has me wondering if not having any values in the KCA additive tables is causing a problem.

I'll be looking through the code that touches IAM later but I was wondering if anyone already familiar with the code might know.

I think this might only apply to the 08+ STI which uses all 4 KCA tables.

Thanks.

Nevermind, apparently it is evaluated. IAM gradually went up to 1 today. I think it might have to do with the fact that my KCA tables don't have values in the areas where the stock KCA primary cruise table does, so perhaps IAM evaluation is a bit slower. I suspect because I wasn't seeing any positive learned ignition, due to not seeing enough load to enter populated KCA cells, IAM evaluation took longer. I noticed it went up as I hit the higher loads and saw KCA values being added. Does this make sense?

I saw delayed IAM corrections after ECU reset many times. It seems like before ECU does not see knocks it does not believe the knock sensor and does not raise IAM.
After some registered knock events ECU relies upon the sensor and involve IAM based strategy.

Hmm, interesting. I actually saw -1.4 FBKC while cruising shortly before the next time I accelerated at which point my IAM rose to 0.75. Interesting...
