My stock ROM is the A4RN100Q http://www.romraider.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=6117 which was not supported.

Based on what is written in that post, I derived a definition from the nearly identical A4RN1000 and was able to tune my engine.
Everything went fine except for the speed limiter. Although I selected the "Disable speed limiter" it obviously didn't work.
Moreover, the speeds indicated in the related table (255 / 250 kmh) are definitely not those at which the limiter is triggered (245/240).

The limiter operates by shutting the wastegate and triggering a pseudo-knock event, thus retarding ignition.
I've attached a log of a run where the limiter is triggered twice in a row.

Official Subaru statements and the european vehicule type approval stipulate for all MY02 STI a Vmax of 238 kmh (electronically limited) because of temperature problems with the differentials.

Looking at the other stock ROMs of EDM 2.0l STi it appears that A4RG060Q and A4RM100H show the correct limiter speeds,
while A4RN1000 and A4RN200H don't. It is therefore questionnable that the definitions of A4RN1000 and A4RN200H are correct in this respect.
However, I couldn't find the matching sequence for the 245/240 limiter settings (F5 F5 F0 F0) neither in those ROMs nor in my A4RN100Q.

Any ideas?

No reply so far... :(
I browsed german Scooby forums and found some lengthy threads about that speed limiter. The discussions were non-technical but shed some light on the history of the bugeye STI.
A lot of the first german STI owners complained about the speed limiter (remember that there are no speed limits on german highways). Complaints were mostly about how the limiter worked since the car wouldn't go that much faster with the stock map. Apparently the original speed limiter (maybe the A4RG060Q ?) was rather rough.
In view of the massive complaints, Subaru Germany issued a statement in which they repeated the necessity of the limiter (rear diff temperature) but said they were working on a solution to make it more driver friendly.
Apparently the result of these efforts is the limiter as implemented in the A4RN100Q.

I understand that this old EDM ROM isn't very interesting for most people reading this forum and I have to apologize for my bad english. Nevertheless, I would be very grateful if someone knowledgeable could point me in the right direction.

The alternative plan I thought of would be to reflash my ECU with the A4RG060Q map and go on from there. From what I have read this is what Ecut€k is doing when reverting a car to stock settings.
Is this gonna work or are there pitfalls I'm not aware of?

I never understand what the "speed limiter" values corresponds to. But whichever the car is, simply reset these values to 0 will desactivate the speed limiter.

Porting my tune to the A4RG060Q base and then reflashing worked. Speed limit is gone.
So the speed-limiter table definition for the A4RN1000 is simply wrong.
