So I wrote the ISN to the EWS, enabled EWS on DME side(Byte 8=7) and everything worked wonderfully or so I thought...Checked EWS and it had "error_ecu_rejected" in one of the status pages in inpa. I disconnected the antenna ring for ews and the car still started up although the key wasnt recognized - duh. I have 373 ecu converted to 41.2 with all of the maps copied from 2.8.

Anyone has any ideas why the ECU doesnt care about the fact that it has to get EWS signal to start? The only reason I want to do this is to get my ECU to properly adapt to the "manual state".

The car is 01.1996 e34(original ews to the car) with m52b28 swapped in. The loom is modified from MS40.1

Hi! I have a not flashable ecu in my e36. I order a flashable one but without deleted ews. I know how to delete it with romraider but there is not a way to read the file. Is there a way to sync it so the car start and I read the file. Thank you!

in my opinion you don't need to start the engine. Bin should be read without any problems. Try to run it not on the car but on the table. Have to go.

Maybe some one will find this interesting. There is ews3D used in E36 compacts and Z3s, and it will run in static isn or rolling code mode depending on the length of the isn you code into it. M44 (M7.2) and M52 ms41 never had rolling code capability, so therefore have 3-digit isn, while M43TUB19 (bms46) works in rolling code mode with 4-digit isn. You can take a ews unit with key from BMS46, and write to it 3-digit isn from M7.2/MS41 and it will work

This program will do an EWS sync on MS41 so you can enable EWS and code different DME ISNs to the EWS unit.

Sync feature can easily be added if theres enough demand. I think most people just disable ews these days.
