Hello,
I'm a bit confused with my situation. I have a 1998 528i US with:
5WK9 0025 index 04
DME MS41.1
1437804
I pulled both partial/full reads with the MS41 Flash Tool. I am unable to open the full read with RomRaider (ECU Definition error), but I can read the partial. RomRaider defines the partial as 1996-1999 BMW E36/E39 MS41.0 (24KB). So I have a MS41.1 DME with MS41.0 ROM loaded? How do I convert to MS41.2?

It's still 41.1 if a US car, but it's one of the much lesser supported software versions, such as ID42. (it would have helped posting that ID version).

To convert, simply flash a fullflash of your intended version ID, using the MS41 Flash tool. The program will do the rest of the conversion internally. To avoid bricking, make sure laptop and car batteries are getting charge, and that you do not move the USB connector.
You MUST have programming voltage applied at the 20 pin port! If you do not understand that part, read some more before continuing.

That makes sense, thank you for clarifying that for me. I was also confused about the ID version but now I understand. I plan on flashing the MS41.2 ID12, I successfully read the full/partial using the bench rig diagram instructions from OPENMS41 and Ill make sure to read some more about applying voltage to 20 pin port before I'm ready to full flash.

Hi

I have e36 328 ms41.0 with asc and try to flash ms41.2 software file from first page.
Question
1. Which's ecu harness wiring want to be correct?
2. I have see some document told about different between ms41.0 and ms41.2 pinout, what does it mean? When i have ms41.0 hardware and full flash ms41.2 to it, what's matter on this hardware pinout is change to ms41.2 or not?

Thanks,

Hello, I have a problem because I have uploaded to my e39 m52b28 ms41.0, ms41.2 (24kB) and the engine does not work and I can not connect to the dme. What did I do wrong? Dme is dead? I'm sorry but I use the translator

You obviously havent researched properly. Flashing a partial (24kb) of a different software version can brick the DME.

you MUST use a FULL FLASH when changing software version.

You simply have to flash the DME . No need to change harness or any pin in DME. Pinout is the same but MS41.2 have more of them used.

First I will try to flash full file in to your DME.

Hi

I have full reflash ms41.0 with ba114 file in first page
After that when I start and found error on DME is:
- 79 oxygen-sensor heater, bank 1 sensor 2
(Cylinder1-3; after cat. Conv)
Open or short circuit at to ground or batt+
tension'hub' to little.
- 20 malfuntion indicator lamp (MIL)
Usa model only
- 50 solenoid valve for fuel evaperation system
Running losses
- 61 oxygen sensor heater:bank 2
(Cylinder 4-6; after catlytic converter)

And engine is idle is ok but when kick down to accelerate engine is not smooth when compare with old software.
How to solve this?

Thanks,

Those are some things that are present in us cars but not in euro models. Just disable those DTC's using romraider.

Honestly, MRF has been saying it for years now (among others). The best thing to do is just do away with running anything MS41.0 and just tune the stock MS41.2 file. That's what i decided to do in the end.

The files i uploaded are as close as you'll get to having MS41.0 settings on MS41.2 *HOWEVER* this is only based on the defined maps. There are potentially many more undefined maps that will cause issues when not converted over. For this very reason, it's best to just start from scratch with MS41.2.
