Hi folks,

Is it possible to recover a bricked ECU with flash programmer and desoldering the 28F200? I flashed 861 to a 401 box with the normal MSS5X flasher instead of the MS41 flasher.

Or is this kind of recovery also possible with quick flash?

Its erasing and writing the first few kbytes, but after that it stops at syncing flash.

why would the mss5x flasher brick an ecu ? :o
i did a bunch of conversions(373 to 861) with it and broke ecu once when i did partial flash instead of full flash
the 401 is ms41.2 ?
just curious if i should stop doing it :o

Hello!
I'm flashed the 328i manual full 256kb file to 528i auto ECU. But at the end of the flash, he wrote it out: "Error finalizing flash! DO NOT turn off the ignition! Perform partial or full flash with original file immediately or elso risk bricking ECU!"
I immediately tried to flash the original file but the same error message came.
The 328i manual full file and the 528i auto ECU are both 1429861.
How to fix it my ECU?

Usually happens with low voltage. You can try both the original partial and full. 50% chance rebooting it without a successful finalization of flash will brick.
