Been doing some research as i'm considering making a move to MS43 on my m50b25tu (from ms41.2) to take advantage of newer technology, faster logging etc etc and generally because i like to test out new things.

The biggest hurdle currently appears to be the change to DBW instead of a conventional throttle cable. Ideally i'd like to retain my existing big bore M52 throttle body and be able to adjust the code to accept only the TPS input instead of needing the pedal input and others.

I've found an old thread elsewhere that alludes to potentially doing this using existing tables, however seems long abandoned:
http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=458827

Has anyone explored this yet?

Well, we don´t have anykind of switch to select between torque based and cable driven, so i think you´re better of using MS42 which at least has a cable. Other then that, it seems quite simple to add the acc pedal from an E46 or E39 to an older chassis.

Yeh i've looked at getting a pedal and throttle body. It's seemingly a small investment (<$150) for the parts, but i would have to then adapt the m54 TB to an m50 manifold.

Not impossible, and certainly not that difficult in the grand scheme of things, just thought maybe someone had seen something in the software that would negate the need for hardware changes.

I haven´t and i have seen pretty much everything up till today. I´m not saying its not possible, i just know how much time it will take to get all the neccessary maps (which we currently don´t even know!) adjusted the right amount (which we also don´t even know!). I know how much time and effort went into the idlespeed delete and we knew it will work. But cable throttle is a totally different beast. Go to a junk yard and get the neccessary parts, should easily be less then 50$. You need an adapter plate to install the throttle body. Or you really mess with the tune and try to go the cable route :)

Living in Australia means we pay ridiculously inflated prices for spare parts, further, my states regulations do not allow for Pick'n'Pull style salvage yards so we are forced to pay a labour component with all used parts.

At any rate, looks like i should be able to source all the parts from lithuania (of all places) via ebay for just over $100.

Oh, thats quite sad. Honestly, even 150$ is cheapish compared to the time and effort you put into cable driven MS43 (from my current point of view).

Random Tidbit:
MS42 throttle body bolts to M50 manifold if you rotate it 90 degrees. I have both parts on my work bench if you want me to test something or get you pictures. Might make the choice a little easier for you

And vice versa m52 thorttle body fits m52tu intake manifold if flipped 90 degrees.

All good. bought a 330i TB, manual throttle pedal and bracket for a decent price from lithuania.
Just have to get the pedal connector and wire it in to the harness now.

Any updates on this? Looking at doing the same to my m50b28

If you guys dont wanna use pedal you may use splitter from z3 or x5 4.4. splitter is connected via cable to ordinary pedal, thus it drives electronic thtrottle.
