Is A2L for 4300056 publicly available? I would love to give a shot at making A2L to RomRaider XML.
If it is not publicly available but someone can provide snippets of A2L so I can work on converter then that will work as well.

Don't know about a2l but ms43 wiki has link to TunerPro software XDF with basically same information. And RRdefinition already has quite many maps for 56 already.

A2L is structed better in my opinion so making a parser for it is seems easier in my mind.

Made some progress although got stuck on some sort of error in XML formatting.
Where can I find rom raider log that would show exception details?

As of now "converter" reads all CHARACTERISTIC, COMPU_METHOD, AXIS_PTS, and RECORD_LAYOUT blocks. Then when writing to romraider xml it goes through all characteristics and pull additional information from COMPU_METHOD, AXIS_PTS, or RECORD_LAYOUT. 2D and 3D maps only since I can't find out why rom raider doesn't like my xml, but getting switches will be easy.

Note: open 512kb bin

Edit: found the error. sint32 and similar should be just int32. no idea what I was thinking

Edit2: Well, getting somewhere I guess. Rom raider lists the maps and tables seem to be correct size. Too bad something is wrong because values in tables as well as rows and columns aren't being shown. Check RRTEST2

Edit3: Jeez. I have spent hours trying to find the difference between manually created ECU definitions file and this generated file. Tried different file encoding, filtered and took care of odd units like degrees symbol, checked format, but all of this time it was the "X" symbol in the expression and to_byte attributes :?
Feel pretty idiotic for overlooking such a simple thing, but hey, work continues.

Including RRTEST3 file for those that want to check

New post instead of editing the old one.

This should be somewhat useable or at least browseable to see what needs to be changed. Couple tables need to have formulas fixed, so click OK through couple of those.

That works quite well. I would thought that dumping all the variables in RR would make that quite hard to use because there is no search. But it's quite usable. Only bit slow to open bins.

Just a thought. It would be nice to combine the current definition in here: viewtopic.php?f=43&t=12575 with this that all the maps etc. that we know more human understandable name would be visible at normal user mode for example. And then you could see all when changing to expert mode for example.

I thought the same after realizing that there is no search or filter. Since RR is open source I might look into adding a simple filter search.
As for the definition, I was hoping everyone willing could work together on a simple list that would contain default map name as well as human readable name. Then that list could be used as search&replace template for RomRaider, TunerPro software, and so on.
Alternatively I thought about converting to human readable names based on list of abbreviations that we have, but works only for maps with 3-4 abbreviations while still making sense.

Does live tracing work in rom raider or even present in rom raider? I haven't used it much past viewing maps, although I do see logparam option on axis tables which probably means there is some tracing???
Figured if it is supported then might as well apply correct logparam to all maps while converting.

Yes it does work. I have used it with ms41. Ofcourse the logparams need to match in logger and editor definitions.

Did you ever release the parser code on github or somewhere else? Over at the Nissan subforum someone got their hands on an a2l file which I would like to parse to a romraider xml. There are some more generic a2l2xml parsers around but why do the same work twice?
