I hope this helps people with setting up RomRaider.
Thought I would make a post on how to set up and use RomRaider logger and ECU editor.
Firstly you need to have
downloaded RomRaider and download all the definition files; there are 3 definition files that you need:
- MS43 ECU Definitions (the latest version) this definition file is used in the RR ECU editor to make changes to your maps.
- Latest logger XML, this is used in the RR logger program (you will need to edit this file if you want to be able to use the Dyno function of the logger)
- Cars_def & dtd files, this is used in the RR logger program (you will need toe edit this to get the Dyno function to work)
DO NOT PUT any of these files in the RomRaider folder in the program files folder. Keep them in a personal folder outside of the program files.
RomRaider ECU editor.This is pretty straight forward,
You need open up RR ecu editor
Click on ECU Definitions,
Then on ECU Definition manager...
Another window will open up then you will want to click Add...
And then find the MS43 ECU Definitions file then click on save, that’s all you need to set it up.
To use RR editor. It you need to select file, then open image and find the file you want to edit.
That’s it tune away.
RomRaider Logger.Now this takes a little more to set up
- Open up RR logger
- Settings
- Logger definition location...
- I use Logger_STD_EN_v346
- Then open up Settings again
- Select logging protocol options
- You need to select DS2 K-Line
- Connect the cable to your car and laptop
- You should now have a list of parameters that you can select
- Select parameters and save those selections as a Profile to recall later
- You are now ready to log data but still cannot use the Dyno function yet as we now need to edit the xml files.
Edit the xml files.Logger XML file.- Find the logger file in your personal folder.
- When you find it right click on the file and press edit.
- Press Ctrl and F
- In the pop up screen write ms43, then click find next.
- You want to scroll down until you find

- You now need to edit this number "0.0018310547*x" you’ll have to make this number bigger. The reason for this is because you need the throttle position parameter to read 98 or above for the Dyno to know you are at WOT, I changed it to 0.003 and it works for me.
- Once edited go to file and press save.
That’s all you need to edit on that file.
Cars_def file.- Find the cars_def file found in your personal folder
- Right click on the file and press edit.
- You now need to add your car details as the first entry in the file

- Change the details to your car, all these details can be found online, the roll coeff stays the same
- Once you have added your details click file and press save.
To use the road Dyno.- Open up the logger
- Click on the Dyno tab at the bottom
- The drop down menu that says select car should now have your car on that list
- Change the delta weight, this needs to include any additional weight in the car, such as driver and how much fuel you have etc
- Select the gear you want to do the Dyno pull
- Press record data
- If everything is working properly the right hand screen should say in green writing, accelerate using WOT when ready
- Pull away and get into the gear you’re going to do your pull, then push the throttle to the floor and rev till redline (or whatever your max rpm is) then when you let go of the throttle you should get a graph appear.
Then that’s it!!
If you want to Dyno another car then you will need to add the cars details to the cars_def file, then you can select whatever car you’re using.
