I have a 2015 Subaru Outback 3.6R with a computer running Win10 64bit and I wanted to use RR to just log more information than what you can get over a regular cheap OBD2 reader. I've looked up a lot of things and tried many things but don't seem to be able to connect to pull logs. I am able to use the OP2 to read regular OBD2 messages but that is about it. Anyone have any ideas on what I am doing wrong? I'm not sure if I need a specific ECU definition file just to log. I have tried several different ones though.

Code:

When you say read OBD with the OP2, do you mean logging with RomRaider set for the OBD protocol and connecting through the OP2?

Can you read the ROM with EcuFlash, do you get a CAL or ECU ID?

Yes, when using the OP2 with the logger set to OBD- "Can bus" I am able to see the limited information from the vehicle usually I can get from cheap OBD Readers. All the other com settings come up with nothing.

So I could not pull the rom with EcuFlash when the engine was actually running but with the car only in the "ON" for aux power I was able to pull it. I was using the 2013+ Subaru BRX All as I thought I saw that somewhere else as what to use for the Outback.

If this is a Hitachi ECU then it is not supported by RomRaider Logger using SSM.
EcuFlash may not be able to read it either.

So is their a way to tell if its Hitachi? EcuFlash was able to pull the rom down and I saved an image of it.

If it's the stock ROM please post it.

Only OBD-II logging will be supported on the version.

So is the issue SSM versions? 2 vs 3 vs 4 or is it something else? Also is their any development plans in the future to be able to read from my vehicle?

RomRaider is not compatible with the logging protocol of this ECU.
To be able to support it we'd need a description of the protocol and a working ECU to test against. So no immediate plan to add support but not impossible.
I haven't looked in a while at the on-board logging capability of the Openport 2.0, maybe it can using mode 23.
