Hi All -
I'm trying to get my very old Tactrix Openport 1.3 cable to log my 2006 WRX (USDM). I am able to read the ECU with ecuflash, but when attempting to log, I get Unable to send ECU init over and over. Green flash connectors are disconnected, car is started and running. The laptop is windows 10 64 (also tried win11), I'm running Java 8 32-bit (have also tried java 1.6 32-bit). I can correctly see the com port listed in romraider. I have put both the edu_defs as well as the logger defs in the c:/program files/romraider directory, and pointed to the correct definitions files in both places. Ive also added the cars_def.xml file, without any joy. I'm not sure what else I'm missing? I presume the drivers are correctly installed since ecuflash works correctly, at least reading. Ive started romraider as administrator as well.
Does the modern version of romraider still support the old openport 1.3 cable? Is windows 10 / windows 11 supported? Is java 8 32-bit still supported? Any other suggestions on what to try?
Thanks for any advice.

I was able to log with a generic aliexpress OBD-II to USB serial cable, so I dont think its a problem with my software installation. Perhaps a driver issue with the Tactrix cable? Or maybe the cable has somehow lost continuity on a wire required for logging but not flashing? Or maybe I'm a bonehead and I'm missing something else? No idea what that clear plastic 12 pin connector is used for. Glad I seem to have a workaround to be able to log with the generic cable, then potentially flash with the tactrix cable if necessary. But Ultimately I'd love to get it working with just the one cable.
Any thoughts?

Any update with this? I'm currently having the same issue with my 05 LGT & 1.3 cable.

No, I never was able to track down the correct drivers or issue with my cable. I didnt need to write my ECU, however I had no trouble reading from it. And since then, Ive been logging with a generic USB cable. Yes, its a workaround, but it seems to function just fine.
Never did get a response from Tactrix or anyone else for that matter.

I did some across some discussion about trying some earlier versions, so I may have already tried, but Ill have to give it another shop to confirm. Thanks for the link.

If you get a chance can you provide a screenshot of the OpenPort cable description after you query it with FT_Prog?

I'm terribly sorry dschultz, I must have missed your earlier reply. I'm guessing you were able to reproduce a similar issue and its been resolved in the latest software? Thank you, sir! I must admit I've not driven the wrx in several months, but it will be nice to be able to start logging properly again. Thank you for your efforts here, and for circling back around even though I was MIA. Your help is greatly appreciated.

The problem you are experiencing is not related to the RTS problem identified originally in this thread.
