Hi Guys,
I’m having a bit of an issue with the Romraider logger. This relates to the logger effectively freezing upon start taking many minutes before accepting a response of any kind. After this the program is useless taking about 5 minutes to accepts or respond to any command. I can see from previous posts this has been and still an issue for some.
After much stuffing around and cursing I have narrowed the error down to the onboard Bluetooth. If I disable it in bios the logger functions correctly. This sucks of course as I use a wireless Bluetooth mouse in the car ( Yeah I know….who doesn’t  ).
I have now found one other post that points to the same thing

Hardware specs
Dell D620 Latitude Core2duo 1Gb ram onboard Bluetooth wifi etc WinXP pro SP3 all latest patches latest Java
Taxtrix 1.3 openport properly configured and the latest driver installed

I have tried the following with no fix
Tried different versions of Java… same issue
Tried many of the older versions of Enginuity and all the way up to the latest Beta of Romraider all with the latest defs etc
I have the cable working very well with Ecu Explorer and EcuFlash
Strangely if I just execute the .jar file it works – well the program does however there are no Comm. Ports available and its of course useless this way but its got me thinking of an interrupt problem or perhaps a memory space issue. This is where I’ll leave it, I’m a sysadmin but not a programmer

Let me know if there’s anything I can do to narrow it down more precisely

Cheers

Mark

I'm curious: does the bluetooth mouse show up as a serial device? I don't have a solution, but have my doubts about the stability of the RXTX serial libraries. I've seen some flaky behavior. Mostly linux, but some odd debug messages on Windows XP as well. I've got the source and am going to try rebuilding with a newer toolchain than was used for the binary distribution.

Sorry about the delay. No the mouse doesn't show up as a serial port as such but I can see some virtual ports under device manager. This is with the mouse not in use and just the default bluetooth operating. I'd be interested to see how bluetooth actually works as far as comms is concerned. I guess I could google things and work it out for myself but its always best to ask those in the know.

My Tactrix cable appears as COM4 under device manager and addtionally I see the bluetooth com ports as 5,6,7 & 9.
I also have a proper serial interface COM1 using irq4 that amongst other things is used for my other ECU (Autronic SM4) or the LC1
Any ideas ??

I don't have any bluetooth devices, so can't replicate this. It might be something about the order in which the drivers were installed, but I don't know. Maybe someone else has some ideas, but I'm afraid I'm not much help right now.
