Hello. I have a 2001 wrx and the car at some point in its life has been mapped. How can I get in to my ecu? I can not upload or download the map. Is this because of a licence?

If it is locked is there a way to un-lock it?

take the ecu or the car to where it got tuned, and have them take it off.
can you post the data that is displayed on the right when the flashing tool starts communicating with the tactrix?

when/if you find out which company or individual tuner locked it, you may have to pay to have it removed.

another option is to get another ecu and swap it in.

Keep in mind, your model needs to have Green Plugs + Flash Block and then Ign key turned to ON with the read/write occuring within 5 seconds of the ECU getting power. It could be that is your issue if you have not seen the process before

If you are not able to read the ROM from the ECU, you could at least do some data logs to get some idea of how the current tune is set up. Total timing, AFR, and boost, for example, would all be helpful.

I suggest logging some WOT pulls, at least. For extra info you could hook the compressor outlet boost line directly to the wastegate actuator (capping off the hoses you disconnect) to do some pulls at whatever boost level your wastegate spring providers. Then do some "pulls" where you just slowly increase RPM from 2500 to redline using just enough throttle to accelerate. And log cruise at 2000, 2500, 3000, 3500 RPM for a few seconds each.
