I haven't even gotten to the dyno stage, I just know it was throwing an error every single time I opened the logger, but I got that part figured out, then I was just making sure my car would be available in the dyno. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!

I downloaded and placed them in the folder listed, however It will not load them? It continues to tell me I need to go online to update, how can I tell it where this file is located?

Is the file named correctly in the RomRaider directory (sometimes people add .extension and then there are two extensions on the filename? In the latest version of RR you can also store the file in the same directory as where your logger.xml is located.

nope simply downloaded off page 1 and placed in the Romraider folder in my program folder just like the page states. unlike the ecu def I cannot simply click somewhere and tell it "hey its right here" I don't plan to really use the estimated dyno tab but at least I could if I wanted to if it would work.

Did you also grab the DTD file and save it in the same location?

would i be correct in thinking i could just use the dyno setting "07 ADM liberty gt spec b manual" for my "06 JDM legacy gt spec b manual"? as far i know body and transmission are basically identical, same ratio's i think, just the 2.0L twinscroll vs 2.5L singlescroll engine
thanks

I just got a 2006 WRX and am using RomRaider, but the cars_def.xml file just refuses to be found by the logger. I have both cars_def.xml and cars_def.dtd in 3 locations: My Documents, the logger xml location, and the RomRaider installation path. Still, it errors every time I launch the logger and gives the old URLs to romraider.com that don't exist anymore. Seems like the app needs a little bit of an update to at least fix the URLs. FWIW, I am using Win10 64-bit. Any ideas are appreciated, thanks!

Are you sure the files are the correct name, check their properties to make sure and follow the instructions in the first post. These only need to be in one folder, with your defs. We'll look at the URL problem.

Here are a few more recent/current model car definitions I've added, feel free to copy/paste them into your cars_def.xml file toward the bottom of the dyno section. Values are correct or as correct as possible (given OEM specs, cars101 info, curb weight info, gear ratio changes with larger/smaller diameter wheels, etc.) Code: <car> <type>10-14 USDM Legacy 3.6R 5AT</type> <carmass>3557</carmass> <finalratio>3.083</finalratio> <rollcoeff>0.015</rollcoeff> <dragcoeff>0.34</dragcoeff> <frontalarea>26.44</frontalarea> <transmission>automatic</transmission> <gearratio1>3.54</gearratio1> <gearratio2>2.264</gearratio2> <gearratio3>1.471</gearratio3> <gearratio4>1.0</gearratio4> <gearratio5>0.834</gearratio5> <tirewidth>215</tirewidth> <tireaspect>50</tireaspect> <wheelsize>17</wheelsize> </car> <car> <type>10-14 USDM Legacy 3.6R 5AT 245/45R18</type> <carmass>3557</carmass> <finalratio>2.990</finalratio> <rollcoeff>0.015</rollcoeff> <dragcoeff>0.34</dragcoeff> <frontalarea>26.44</frontalarea> <transmission>automatic</transmission> <gearratio1>3.43</gearratio1> <gearratio2>2.19</gearratio2> <gearratio3>1.43</gearratio3> <gearratio4>0.97</gearratio4> <gearratio5>0.81</gearratio5> <tirewidth>245</tirewidth> <tireaspect>45</tireaspect> <wheelsize>18</wheelsize> </car> <car> <type>15 USDM WRX 6MT</type> <carmass>3357</carmass> <finalratio>4.110</finalratio> <rollcoeff>0.015</rollcoeff> <dragcoeff>0.32</dragcoeff> <frontalarea>23.96</frontalarea> <transmission>manual</transmission> <gearratio1>3.454</gearratio1> <gearratio2>1.947</gearratio2> <gearratio3>1.296</gearratio3> <gearratio4>0.972</gearratio4> <gearratio5>0.780</gearratio5> <gearratio6>0.666</gearratio6> <tirewidth>235</tirewidth> <tireaspect>45</tireaspect> <wheelsize>17</wheelsize> </car> <car> <type>15 USDM WRX CVT</type> <carmass>3457</carmass> <finalratio>3.900</finalratio> <rollcoeff>0.015</rollcoeff> <dragcoeff>0.32</dragcoeff> <frontalarea>23.96</frontalarea> <transmission>automatic</transmission> <gearratio1>3.505</gearratio1> <gearratio2>2.405</gearratio2> <gearratio3>1.855</gearratio3> <gearratio4>1.544</gearratio4> <gearratio5>1.258</gearratio5> <gearratio6>1.032</gearratio6> <tirewidth>235</tirewidth> <tireaspect>45</tireaspect> <wheelsize>17</wheelsize> </car> <car> <type>15 USDM WRX CVT 235/40R18</type> <carmass>3457</carmass> <finalratio>3.890</finalratio> <rollcoeff>0.015</rollcoeff> <dragcoeff>0.32</dragcoeff> <frontalarea>23.96</frontalarea> <transmission>automatic</transmission> <gearratio1>3.50</gearratio1> <gearratio2>2.40</gearratio2> <gearratio3>1.85</gearratio3> <gearratio4>1.54</gearratio4> <gearratio5>1.25</gearratio5> <gearratio6>1.03</gearratio6> <tirewidth>235</tirewidth> <tireaspect>40</tireaspect> <wheelsize>18</wheelsize> </car>

dschultz wrote: Are you sure the files are the correct name, check their properties to make sure and follow the instructions in the first post. These only need to be in one folder, with your defs. We'll look at the URL problem. I've reinstalled Windows 10 on a different laptop and the RR installer is stalling at one of the final stages. I have both 32- and 64-bit Java 8 r60 installed, so I'm going to try removing 64-bit and trying the installer again. I definitely had the right file names since I didn't rename them. I also don't hide file extensions ever since I grew up using MS-DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11 and never liked how Windows hid the extension. I put the files in every folder that seemed like it would follow the guide, like the root of the romraider installation folder, my documents, and my documents \ wrx - where I had my logger XML file. Is there a way to disable the dyno so it doesn't prompt for the cars def file? UPDATE: OK, uninstalled 64-bit java and RomRaider installed fine. I set it all up the same way as before and it's working without error. However, I install 64-bit java (needed for Minecraft) and RomRaider tries to use it and errors out completely. Hmmm, I guess I can play vanilla Minecraft only using 32-bit java. I thought you could have 64- and 32-bit java installed simultaneously and RomRaider would still function. Curious that RR tries to use 64-bit when you have both 32 and 64 installed. Knowing java and how often it changes completely, I'm guessing this is java's fault somehow. Sigh...oh well, I don't really need to play Minecraft on my carputer I guess. I'll install some different games, or that weird Windows 10 minecraft beta. UPDATE AGAIN: If anyone cares, Java 8 r60 32-bit appears to still use a 64-bit java runtime for Minecraft. I haven't tried using a mod pack with tons of mods to where you need 4G of ram allocated to it, but just running vanilla and hitting F3 shows Java 64-bit. Interesting...if you play Minecraft that is. Another thing I was surprised with was how fast this laptop starts up from hibernation. I see the Windows logo for maybe 2 seconds, then a flash and BAM I'm at the desktop. It takes maybe 3 seconds to POST, so seriously 6 seconds from completely off to at the desktop. Not bad for a 3rd gen i5 CPU and a Samsung 840 EVO SSD. With Windows 7, hibernation would take nearly a minute to start up on a similar laptop of mine that has an i7 CPU.

If you install the standalone (ZIP) version of RomRaider which you start using the run.bat file you can tailor the start command in the .bat file to use a specific Java install.
