I was looking at the map sensor scaling for the 32bit ecus and thinking about adding it to the definitions as I'm in the process of working on a bunch of 32bit defs:
(MAPv * multiplier) + offset
(MAPv * 9.94 psia/v) - 8 psia
I had thought that the factory sensor was supposedly worthless above 22 psig. Based on the conversion above, this would be about 4.5 volts. Does this sound about right? So, it reads up to 27 psig but its accuracy sucks above 22 psi?

I'm not sure anyone has actually checked accuracy above 22.5. I haven't seen any actual testing or even heard of someone trying. We do know that it seems to clip output above ~22.5psiG.
Either way, adding the scaling would be nice.

It is based on atmos pressure as well. Depending on your elevation you will see anywhere from 22.x-23.x psi. I believe it reads up to 36.xx psia max. For me the max I have seen is 23.5 but on my boost gauge it was verified to be 26psi. It will not read above that value since it was stuck at that value while actual boost was above that level.

Right, it is absolute pressure. The 22 psig example was assuming sea level. Sounds like the stock MAP sensor maxes out at 4.5 volts as I don't see any cap on pressure in the code which is actually kind of unusual as everything else seems to have a min, max or both.

The stock MAP sensor reads 37psi absolute. Subtract your current atmospheric pressure to determine what your limit will be. For me, I am at 14.6 atmospheric. Thus, my max psi is 22.4psi.

I'm going to add this to the next release.
Also, I'm looking at the multiplier/offset for atmospheric pressure but it is not based on the same input as MAP. I had thought that atmos pressure was determined at startup through the MAP sensor?

I believe there is a separate sensor that determines atmospheric/barometric pressure.

That would make sense based on what i am seeing. Must be unique to the 32bit ecus as my 02 wrx manual states that the ecu polls the MAP sensor at startup for atmospheric pressure.

it doesn't just poll a baro read before it starts cranking?
I know 80's turbododges used to do just that;

All 2001+ WRX ECUs have a barometric pressure sensor built in, too. Check out the diagnostic procedures for trouble codes P1110, P1111 and P1112.
