Initially, the RT release ("RamTune") for RomRaider will be for the 16bit ecus. Because of limited unused ram space (about 1kb and is actually the upper range for the stack) for these ecus, the ram lut will be dynamic allowing the user to choose and create different profiles (assortments) of tables within the limits from about 20 capable RT tables. I don't think we are going to have the same ram issue with the 32bit ecus, so it is likely to be different (ram lut stored in the rom). I don't see development of RamTune for the 32bit ecus until after the release of the 16bit version, so it is hard to say exactly how it will play out.

I'm also an amateur, except that I have a business degree. I think all the professionals get bored with this stuff at work and don't want to work on it in their spare time, so it is up to us to get down n' dirty with assembly. :D

I think you guys would be surprised how much code gets written in the Open Source world by "non-professionals". :-)

Your knowledge definitely seems to exceed that of a lot of "professionals" anyway and certainly exceeds mine in the low-level assembly area!

I just like tinkering with stuff. I don't think I would have the same passion for it or drive to learn if it was something other than related to cars.

312 bytes (fuel map) copied 60 times a second from ROM to RAM whilst my engine is running from the RAM copy that is being overwritten and you wouldn't know. I think a checksum would take fewer cycles. I am only copying a word at a time because the maps don't always sit on long boundaries.
